With its unique retro charm, Reverse: 1999 is a standout among gacha games and has been sailing the rough waves of the market with success for the 1.5 years since it was released — reason enough to celebrate. Version 2.5, Showdown in Chinatown, has lots of free goodies in store to thank players for their engagement and time.

6-Star character Windsong receives a brand-new outfit, which everyone can claim for free by logging into the game after Version 2.5 has been released on April 24, 2025. Players can grab up to 40 banner pulls for free during the 1.5th anniversary through login events and item gifts and will receive a voucher for the Garment Shop, enabling them to buy their next skin with a discount.

As far as regular content goes, the Showdown in Chinatown follows new character Liang Yue on the hunt for Nightpiercer, whose spree of crimes in Los Angeles is getting out of control. Yet, the media continues to glorify the criminal as a vigilante — not great for the investigation.

Liang Yue will be available during Version 2.5’s banner, being a strong DPS option for players, and players can explore her personality even more in her Character Story, Sow and Reap. A variety of other events and modes round out the repertoire of this update, such as Critter Crash, a boardgame-style challenge mode.

The second half of the update isn’t slacking about either, coming in with the mysterious 6-Star character Hong Kong Director Noire and a time-limited return of the Version 1.6 Story Event, Notes on Shuori. Version 2.5 will be active until the end of May 2025, when Version 2.6 is set to become available.

Reverse: 1999 is a turn-based RPG available for free on PC, iOS, and Android.
