By Marco Wutz

Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 is the biggest strategy game release of 2025 and its fans are enjoying their time with the newest entry into the hallowed franchise, even though some of its innovations and technical executions received a good deal of criticism.
Table of Contents
The rules have changed a great deal compared to previous iterations. Your leader can now be picked independently from your civilization and the latter is switched out twice, so you’re effectively playing as three cultures per match. You know what that means: Finding strong or especially thematic combinations is going to be paramount.
Find all current and upcoming Civilization 7 leaders and civs below to plan your strategies.

Civilization 7: All current and upcoming civs
In Civilization 7 you will choose a total of three civilizations over the course of a campaign: You’ll begin with a culture from the Antiquity Age and then switch to others for the Exploration Age and Modern Age.
There are various unlock conditions that decide which civilizations you get to choose from. Your leader can come with an unlock to open up their “historical” path, such as Napoleon unlocking the French Empire or Friedrich unlocking Prussia. Your initial culture will add options as well: Rome, to give an example, opens the pathway to the Normans and Spain as “natural” successors. Finally, you can unlock all civilizations by completing certain goals as you play. Settling on islands during the Antiquity Age might give you access to Hawai’i, while a high production of wine during the Exploration Age unlocks the French Empire.
