As Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 takes heavy influence from French culture, it’s no surprise that some of the most daunting foes you’ll encounter are Mimes. These unique enemies are hidden away in most major areas in the game, and defeating them unlocks special outfits and hairstyles for your party, but taking them down is easier said than done.

At the start of each battle, they will put up a wall that makes them highly resistant to all forms of damage, so we’ll explain how to break through this wall and defeat these creepy enemies. Arguably even creepier though are some of the friendly Nevrons you can find. Check out our guide on how to find the mine for the Demineur in Expedition 33 for more on that.

In short, you have to break the mime. The wall that they put up at the start of the battle will prevent you from doing any major damage, so instead, you have to use attacks that will fill up their break bar until you can finally smash through it.

The best way to do this is to charge up AP for your most powerful abilities – ideally, ones that strike many times. This can easily be done once you learn the Mimes’ relatively simple attack patterns, which helps as counterattacks also fill the break bar quite quickly. Once the yellow bar below their health is full, use any ability that says it can break enemies to do it.

With their wall broken, they will become much more vulnerable to your attacks and you can finish them off. Defeating a mime will earn you whatever hairstyle it has for one of your characters, as well as one piece of the Baguette outfit.
