Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – How to use the Old Key
By Ryan Woodrow

The Old Key is a mysterious item that you can get at the festival during the game’s prologue by spending a Festival Token. If you have it you’ll no doubt spend the entire game looking for the one locked door that requires it, as there aren’t many in the game’s world. To help you out, we’ve put together this guide explaining where you can use the Old Key and what you can get when you do.
If you picked up the other unique item at the festival, check out our guide on how to use the Weird Pictos in Expedition 33 to learn what it does.
How to use the Old Key
You won’t be able to use the Old Key until quite deep into Act 2, in a location called Old Lumiere. During the section where Maelle and Verso get cut off from the rest of the group, there is a small broken pipe outcropping from a ledge that you can walk on. Drop into that pipe, and inside will be a locked gate that only the Old Key can open.
On the other side of this gate is a journal entry which gives you a bit more information about the residents of Old Lumiere and what happened to them after the Fracture.
