Honkai: Star Rail – Castorice build and ascension guide
By Marco Wutz

Send your enemies to the underworld with the best Honkai: Star Rail Castorice build. Using the powers of the Death Titan, this 5-Star character following The Remembrance and dealing Quantum DMG can summon a mighty Memosprite to do her bidding in combat — at the cost of her team’s HP.
Table of Contents
Castorice’s Skill, Silence, Wraithfly’s Caress, consumes a portion of all allies’ current HP to deal Quantum DMG based on Castorice’s Max HP to a single target and adjacent foes. If Netherwing is on the field, this becomes the Enhanced Skill, Boneclaw, Doomdrake’s Embrace, which needs more HP from allies, but allow Castorice and the Memosprite to execute a Joint Attack to cause Quantum DMG based on Castorice’s Max HP to all enemies.
Castorice’s Ultimate, Doomshriek, Dawn’s Chime, can not be activated via Energy. Instead, she gains points of Newbud for the amount of HP lost by her allies and reaching the maximum count allows her to use her Ultimate. When allies lose HP, Castorice and Netherwing deal additional damage for three turns, which can stack up to three times. When the Memosprite is on the field, Castorice can’t gain Newbud — instead, the HP lost by allies is converted to HP for Netherwing.
The Ultimate itself summons Netherwing and advances its action forward immediately, creating a Territory called Lost Netherland, which decreases the All-Type RES of all enemies. This stays around as long as Netherwing is summoned. The Memosprite lasts for up to three turns or until its HP runs out. Its initial HP is based on the amount of Newbud used to summon it and it has a fixed SPD value.
Netherwing has two Skills that deal Quantum DMG to all enemies based on Castorice’s HP. Its second Skill consumes its own HP and can be used repeatedly during its turn, gaining a higher damage modifier every time. When the Memosprite disappears, it deals Quantum DMG based on Castorice’s Max HP to random enemies a number of times and heals the entire team based on Castorice’s Max HP. Netherwing also provides a damage buff to all allies for three turns after being summoned and acts as Backup for all allies, taking any damage that would otherwise be lethal to them.
Castorice also brings a Support ability with her that saves an ally from immediate death once per battle, giving players the chance to bring the character back with a heal or a shield — and this works account-wide, so Castorice doesn’t have to be on the team that’s currently fighting.
Castorice’s Eidolons, which can be unlocked by pulling duplicates of her, have the following effects:
Level | Effects |
---|---|
1 | - Allows Netherwing’s abilities to deal 120/140% of their original damage if the target’s current HP is lower than 80%/50% of Netherwing’s Max HP. |
2 | - Generates 2 stacks of Ardent Will for Castorice after summoning Netherwing. |
3 | - Increases Ultimate level by 2, up to a maximum of 15. |
4 | - Increases the Incoming Healing for all allies by 20% while Castorice is on the battlefield. |
5 | - Increases Skill level by 2, up to a maximum of 15. |
6 | - Increases the Quantum RES PEN of Castorice and Netherwing’s attacks by 20%. |
Honkai: Star Rail – Castorice: best Light Cones
Max HP is the most vital stat for Castorice and her signature Light Cone, Make Farewells More Beautiful, has a hefty increase of that built into it. In addition, the wearer gains the Death Flower effect for two turns after one of them loses HP on their own turn, allowing both the wearer and their Memosprite to partially ignore enemies’ DEF with their attacks. Furthermore, the wearer’s next action gets advanced forward slightly when their Memosprite disappears, though this can only be triggered once until it gets reset by the wearer using their Ultimate.
Best Light Cones for Castorice in HSR:
- Make Farewells More Beautiful (5-Star)
- Sweat Now, Cry Less (4-Star)
- Reminiscence (3-Star)
Honkai: Star Rail – Castorice: best Relics
On top of maximizing her HP, you’ll want to stack CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate on Castorice to get more damage out of her. Break Effect is great to fill out any leftover slots, adding damage when Castorice or Netherwing deplete an enemy’s Toughness. Staples like Energy Regeneration and ATK are not relevant on Castorice.
Neither is SPD, it’s important to note. Castorice ideally wants to make use of Poet of Mourning Collapse, which her base SPD of 95 allows her to do without any margin for more of the stat — as such, you’ll want to avoid getting any SPD on your Relics.
Best Relic Sets for Castorice in HSR:
- Poet of Mourning Collapse (4) – +10% Quantum DMG, -8% SPD, +20%/32% CRIT Rate if the wearer’s SPD is lower than 110/95.
- Longevous Disciple (4) – +12% Max HP, +8% CRIT Rate for two turns when the wearer is hit or has their HP consumed by an ally or themselves (stacks up to two times).
Best Planar Ornaments for Castorice in HSR:
- Bone Collection’s Serene Demesne (2) – +12% Max HP, +28% CRIT DMG for both the wearer and their Memosprite, if the wearer’s Max HP is higher than 5,000.
- The Wondrous BananAmusement Park (2) – +16% CRIT DMG, +32% CRIT DMG in addition if a target summoned by the wearer is on the field.

Honkai: Star Rail – Castorice: best teams
Castorice can either act as the Main DPS of a party centered on her or be part of a double DPS set-up enabled by using another DPS character whose mechanics revolve around HP. In either case, she’s an absolutely lethal character to command.
- Castorice (Main DPS), Trailblazer (Remembrance) (Support), Tribbie (Support), Luocha (Support)
This is an example for the composition fully revolving around Castorice. Tribbie and Trailblazer (Remembrance) are fantastic buffers for the Daughter of River Styx with an additional bonus to Tribbie’s own damage output coming in the form of Castorice’s high HP. Any healer with a low demand for Skill Points will do well with this team, making Luocha, Lingsha, and Gallagher the best options.
Bailu, who hasn’t received much attention recently, is another potent pick for the Castorice team, as she can increase the Max HP of characters when overhealing them, which becomes a boost to damage in Castorice and Tribbie’s cases.
Of course, Supports like Sunday, Ruan Mei, and Sparkle are good fits for the composition, too.
- Castorice (Main DPS), Blade (Sub DPS), Tribbie (Support), Luocha (Support)
In this example of the dual DPS set-up, Blade helps speed up Castorice’s Ultimate activation by generating additional Newbud points on top of contributing his own damage, while the rest of the party remains the same as above. You can substitute Mydei or Jingliu for Blade, as they eat up their own or their allies’ HP as well.
Honkai: Star Rail – Castorice: ascension materials
Here’s everything you need to know to get Castorice ascended to the maximum level and upgrade all of her talents.
Castorice requires the following ascension materials to get to level 80 in addition to the necessary XP:
- Credits x308,000
- Ethereal Omen x15
- Echoing Wail x15
- Eternal Lament x15
- Darkveil Moonlight x65
You can collect Ethereal Omen, Echoing Wail, and Eternal Lament from enemies on Amphoreus as well as the Simulated Universe. You can create or exchange them through the Omni-Synthesizer on the Astral Express. They are one of the materials you can easily farm through the Daily Assignments to your characters, making for a steady income of the material, or gain them as a byproduct from farming Golden Calyxes on Amphoreus.
Darkveil Moonlight is dropped by the Stagnant Shadow (Grove of Epiphany: Murmuring Woods). The best source of Credits are the Golden Calyxes found across the cosmos.
Castorice requires the following materials to upgrade her combat abilities and Traces:
- Credits x2,400,000
- Ethereal Omen x28
- Echoing Wail x42
- Eternal Lament x42
- Bija of Consciousness x12
- Seedling of Manas x54
- Flower of Alaya x105

- Tracks of Destiny x8
For the materials already mentioned, check above. Bija of Consciousness, Seedling of Manas, and Flower of Alaya can be farmed in the Crimson Calyx (Castrum Kremnos: Strife Ruins) on Amphoreus. As usual, you can create the high-level materials by using up lower-level materials in the Omni-Synthesizer on the Astral Express.
Auspice Sliver is rarer material only gained from the Echo of War (Skysplitter) domain, while Tracks of Destiny can be obtained during time-limited events, the Embers Exchange, the Nameless Honor, or as a Simulated Universe Points Reward.
