Honkai: Star Rail – Mydei build and ascension guide

Become crowned in blood with the best Honkai: Star Rail Mydei build and take a seat on your rightful throne. A 5-Star character following The Destruction and dealing Imaginary DMG, Mydei is a HP-based fighter with some unique combat mechanics that make him stand out.

Mydei’s Skill, Deaths are Legion, Regrets are None, consumes half of his current HP and deals Imaginary DMG based on his Max HP to the primary target and adjacent foes. 

His Ultimate, Throne of Bones, restores a portion of Mydei’s HP and accumulates Charge for his Talent in addition to dealing Imaginary DMG based on his Max HP to the primary enemy as well as adjacent targets. It also taunts these foes for two turns and marks its main target as a priority for the next use of Godslayer Be God.

Mydei’s Talent, Blood for Blood, accumulates Charge for every 1% of HP he loses in battle, up to 200 Charge. At 100 Charge, this amount is consumed and Mydei enters the Vendetta state, restoring his HP partially and advancing his next action forward. During Vendetta, his Max HP increases based on his original Max HP, his DEF is lowered to nothing, and he uses Kingslayer Be King automatically on his next turn. When Charge reaches 150 during Vendetta, Mydei gets an extra turn immediately and again uses Godslayer Be God. If Mydei is downed in this state, Vendetta ends but he continues fighting, partially restoring his HP — though one of his Traces allows him to simply shrug off even this punishment and simply stay in Vendetta up to three times per battle.

His Enhanced Skills, Kingslayer Be King and Godslayer be God, are more blast attacks dealing Imaginary DMG based on his Max HP that consume part of his current HP. Godslayer Be God in addition consumes 150 Charge.

Obtaining duplicates of Mydei increases his Eidolon Level, unlocking power-ups. Eidolon 1 buffs Godslayer be God’s damage, Eidolon 2 allows damage dealt during Vendetta to partially bypass the enemies’ DEF. It additionally converts incoming healing into Charge. Eidolon 4 increases his CRIT DMG during Vendetta and makes Mydei restore some HP whenever he’s hit. At Eidolon 6, Mydei automatically enters Vendetta at the start of combat and lowers the cost of Godslayer Be God to 100 Charge.

Mydei’s signature Light Cone, Flame of Blood, Blaze My Path, increases the wearer’s Max HP as well as Incoming Healing, providing two key elements for Mydei’s success. HP is obviously Mydei’s key attribute, as this is what scales his damage and allows him to live through enemy attacks despite making himself an easy target. CRIT DMG is the second thing you’ll want to keep an eye out for. CRIT Rate is good, but a little lower on the priority list, since one of Mydei’s Traces increases his CRIT Rate based on every 100 HP above 4,000. As usual, SPD is another important concern.

Best Relic Sets for Mydei in HSR:

• Longevous Disciple (4) – +12% Max HP, +8% CRIT Rate for two turns when the wearer is hit or has their HP consumed (stacks up to two times).
• Scholar Lost in Erudition (4) – +8% CRIT Rate, +20% Skill and Ultimate DMG, +25% Skill DMG for the next Skill use following an Ultimate.

Best Planar Ornaments for Mydei in HSR:

• Bone Collection’s Serene Demesne (2) – +12% Max HP, +28% CRIT DMG for the wearer and their Memosprite when the wearer’s Max HP is 5,000 or higher.

Honkai: Star Rail – Mydei: best teams

Mydei isn’t very difficult to build or play, since he’ll be on autopilot most of the time thanks to his Charge mechanic. He’s a potent DPS and best played as a team’s hyper-carry, meaning every party member being a support of some kind.

• Mydei (Main DPS), Tribbie (Support), Sunday (Support), Luocha (Support)

This composition can be filled with whichever characters you have on hand for each slot, but the example above is probably the most lethal mix you can field at the moment. Tribbie and Sunday come with a variety of offensive buffs and some turn manipulation mechanics to help Mydei. Of all healers currently in the game, Luocha is the best option for Mydei due to his high amount of HP restoration and the auto-heal that kicks in at certain times.

For the two general Support slots, units like Bronya, Sparkle, and Trailblazer (Remembrance) are strong fits on Mydei’s team, providing buffs and turn manipulation. Yukong is a robust low budget option thanks to her teamwide Imaginary DMG boost. Lingsha is the best alternative to Luocha as a healer, bringing some of the same qualities to the table. For a low budget option in this slot, look no further than Lynx — she can increase Mydei’s Max HP on top of healing him, thereby even providing a small offensive buff.

The addition of Castorice has also opened the way for a double DPS set-up.

Honkai: Star Rail – Mydei: ascension materials

Here’s everything you need to know to get Mydei ascended to the maximum level and upgrade all of his Traces.

Mydei requires the following ascension materials to get to level 80 in addition to the necessary XP:

You can collect Fear-Stomped Flesh, Courage-Torn Chest, and Glory-Aspersed Torso from enemies on Amphoreus as well as the Simulated Universe. Auspice Sliver is rarer material only gained from the Echo of War (Skysplitter) domain, while Tracks of Destiny can be obtained during time-limited events, the Embers Exchange, the Nameless Honor, or as a Simulated Universe Points Reward.
