Indiana Jones Great Circle: All safe codes and locations
By Ryan Woodrow

Money, secrets, and goodies galore await those who tap into their inner Indy and break open every secret Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has to offer. Even in the game’s first main area, you’ll find chests and safes hiding valuables around every corner, and each one of them requires a code that you’ll need to solve a puzzle to unlock.
We’ll break down every safe and chest code in Great Circle and where to find them, along with all of the other chests we’ve found that you can open without any trouble.

All Vatican safe codes – Indiana Jones Great Circle
Courtyard tent safe
Likely the first chest requiring a code you’ll find, this one is in a tent right in front of where you first enter the main courtyard in Vatican City. On a table nearby you’ll find a tag with the numbers burned off, but don’t worry, as the owner has written those two numbers on the reverse side of the card.
With that, we can work out that the code for this chest is 5238.
Sistine Chapel safe – Secret of Secrets mystery
In the back room of the Sistine Chapel, you’ll find this safe with the statues of different saints nearby and a planetary chart showing you the symbols for each of the planets. These symbols can be found on the bases of the other statues in the room.
Put them together and you get the code 4471.
Post Office cellar safe
Round the corner from the main entrance is a small ramp leading down to the cellar of the Vatican post office. You’ll need to go there when grabbing some stone tablets for fieldwork. When you do this a blackshirt will interrupt you. Loot their body and you’ll find a note giving you the code to the safe that is in the cellar.
The note says it was changed in “November of last year”. The game is set in 1937, so that means the code is 1136.
Museum garden safe – A Day to Remember mystery
This is an area that only unlocks once you’ve progressed the A Nun in Trouble fieldwork far enough. Sneak into the area of the main courtyard blocked by barbed wire and into the door at the northwest corner, follow it around until you come out into the garden and go into the tent where the safe is.
You need to find two notes nearby, one of which is in the drawer of the desk. One is a code cipher and the other is a code saying that the code is “DICE” and the other shows you the date the safe was shipped. You need to use the code for Friday, which is 6308.
Museum storage safe
This safe contains one of the Lost Artifacts of Europe in Great Circle, and is found at the end of the museum storage level during the A Nun in Trouble fieldwork. On a crate nearby there is a green lamp that’s on, turn it off and the code will reveal itself as 7171.
Borgia Tower safe – Father and Son mystery
This is yet another safe that’s locked behind the progression of the A Nun in Trouble fieldwork. This time you’ll need to finish it completely for Gina to give you a special key that unlocks a door part-way up the tower you climbed to rescue the nun. Go out onto the balcony and in the door on your right to find the safe.
Inside you’ll find a poem with eight circled letters and a cipher table with these letters. On the chart, you need to look up the coordinates I-R, I-A, T-A, S-O to get the code 5873.
Vatican chest locations
Along with these safes you can occasionally find chests that are completely unlocked. Their loot is often less valuable as a result, but it’s still yours for the taking. Here is a list of the ones we’ve found so far:
- In the restricted military zone in the northwest corner of the map, in the tent closest to the entrance on the right.
- By the fountain that you visit as part of the main quest.
- Down the path from the fountain in a pile of crates behind a military truck.
Vatican lockbox locations
These small boxes that you can whack open with any weapon are hiding quite a lot of cash, so you don’t want to miss any of them. Here are the ones that we’ve found:
- On the balcony of Borgia Tower, around the corner from the door you use to reach the Borgia Tower safe.
- In the storage truck by the fountain, you visit during the main quest.
- On a stack of small crates next to the A Day to Remember safe
- In the restricted military zone in the main courtyard, in the southeasternmost tent.
- In the office next to the one containing the A Snake in the Garden mystery, on the desk.
All Gizeh safe codes – Indiana Jones Great Circle
The open plains of Egypt aren’t so open in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle as instead, the Nazis have set up camp there and hidden a bunch of treasure around the place to boot. As a respected archeologist, it’s your duty to liberate these items from their hands, but many of them are locked behind safes and chests that require combinations to open.
We’ll show you where to find every safe, chest, and lockbox in Gizeh and give you the codes for everything that requires them. If you’re still looking for more secrets in other areas, check out our guide to all Vatican safe codes in Indiana Jones.
Weather station safe – Cloud Atlas mystery
This is a fun little puzzle that you can find in a small weather station northwest of the worker’s area. In it, you’ll find a note depicting different types of cloud cover and a journal of what the sky looked like at various times throughout the day. You need to cross-reference these two pieces of paper and use the number associated with each picture in the cloud atlas to work out the code.
Do it correctly and you’ll get the code 0609 to open the safe.
Roadside safe – Bright Future mystery
This is a weird one as unlike most safes in this game, the note that gives you the code is quite far away from the safe. The safe is found on the roadside northeast of the dig site, while the note is in the restricted area on the western side of the map.
The code for the safe is 0926, but this is not like the other safes, as once you open it you’ll find lit sticks of dynamite inside, so you better get out of there fast. You don’t get any items as a reward, but you will get the research points for completing the Bright Future mystery.
Nazi compound safe
This safe is on the bottom floor of the multi-layer Nazi compound that you visit while searching for Voss as part of the story. When on the ground floor, go all the way to the back room and you’ll find this safe which, unlike the others, requires five digits to open. The trick is that the code is very similar to the Roadside safe, but with one extra digit on the front.
The code for this safe is 40926.
Nazi garage safe
The last safe in Gizeh is in the same restricted area where you find the note for the Bright Future mystery. In the north of that area is a garage and on the back of one of the trucks is this safe. There’s no clever puzzle here, just look around in the garage and you’ll find a note that tells you that the code is 0805.
Gizeh chest locations
There are also several chests in Gizeh that don’t require a code. Here are all of those we’ve found:
- In the restricted section in the west. Between the bunk beds in the easternmost tent.
- In the restricted section in the west. In the office in the westernmost tent.
- In a tent in the Nazi recreational area in the center of the map.
- In the digsite next to the giant pyramid in the west, by the entrance of the wooden building.
Gizeh lockbox locations
There are also little lockboxes that you can smash open full of cash. Here’s where we’ve found all of them:
- In the ruins opposite the Sphinx on a desk.
- In the restricted section in the west. On a table in the easternmost tent.
- In the Nazi garage on a table on the left-hand side.
- In the Nazi garage on a table on the right-hand side.
- In the restricted section in the west. On a table in the westernmost tent.
- On the top close of the Nazi compound.
All Sukhothai safe codes – Indiana Jones Great Circle
Swamp safe – Path of Tigers mystery
Finding the code for this one is a bit of a trek. You can find the safe easily as it is in the flooded hut just behind the shop where you buy the rebreather. To find the code, first pick up the photo and follow the map to the area in the far south of Sukhothai. There, follow any sign of the tiger you can spot until you reach a chalk drawing of a pawprint on the ground.
The pawprint contains the safe code, which is 2480.
Voss’ Gold Stash safe
After being told the high price for the rebreather, you get fieldwork that directs you to this safe, which is in the Nazi compound at the very north of the map. Navigating your way through this area can be tricky, as you need to head inside the biggest building and up to the top floor. Knock out the captain in the office there and search his body to get the code.
Pulling the note off his body you’ll discover the code is 5484.
Nazi barracks safe – A Game of Wits mystery
In the same compound where Voss’ safe is found, go into the kitchen building on the west side of the restricted area. Climb up the stairs and in the barracks there you’ll find a safe next to a game board that looks a bit like checkers. It’s a unique game though and two nearby notes will explain the rules and what you need to do to win.
You need to make just four moves with different blue pieces to surround and eliminate all red pieces (remember to check the back of the note for more rules), then take the row number of the four blue pieces in the order you moved them. The result is the code 3186.
Nazi garage safe – A Timely Arrival mystery
This one is pretty similar to the A Day to Remember Great Circle mystery from the Vatican, where you must use a code sheet and a keyword that corresponds with a specific day to work out the code to the safe. The day is Saturday and the code word is “Giada”, and using that we can work out the code, which is 59404
Nazi digsite safe – Counting Letters mystery
In the digsite around a ruin on the north end of the biggest island, there is a wooden structure with the same Kummtez Cipher from the Himalayas. This time the code word is “JHHS”, but the catch is that the J and S are on the same wheel. Insert the two Hs and put the J circle in the right spots and get the right letters, then move the first wheel to the last position in the cipher and position it on S.
Do it correctly and you’ll get the word “Bier” which corresponds to the code 4134.
Sukhothai chest locations
Like the other major areas, Sukhothai all contains a bunch of unlocked chests dotted around the place, mostly in restricted areas and other Nazi-controlled sections of the map. Here are all of the ones we’ve found so far:
- Between the bunk beds in the same room as the A Game of Wits safe.
- In the corner of the same room where Voss’ safe is found
Sukhothai lockbox locations
Last but not least are the little lockboxes that you need to break open with a weapon to get the cash inside. Here are all the ones we’ve discovered:
- In the same building where the Counting Letters safe is located, on a nearby table.
- In the war room downstairs from Voss’ office, on a table near the exit.
- On the table in the office next to the war room.
