Oblivion Remastered: The best birthsign to boost your character
By Ryan Woodrow

After choosing your race in Oblivion Remastered, you’ll shortly have to choose your birthsign as well. This choice will give you a permanent passive buff to your character that can be very helpful. While arguably not as important as your race or class, picking the right one for your build will help make life a lot easier for you as you explore the lands of Cyrodill.
We’ll break down what the best birthsigns are for each character build, and if you want to make sure it aligns with the rest of the plans for your character, make sure to check out our guides for the best races in Oblivion Remastered and the best classes in Oblivion Remastered.
Best Warrior birthsigns in Oblivion Remastered
As the name suggests, The Warrior is a very reliable birthsign that will increase your offensive capabilities. Ten extra points in both Strength and Endurance will make life easier in a very straightforward fashion. If you’re looking for something a little different, though, consider The Lord’s defensive capabilities, as it increases your armor rating by 15 and gives you a 15% boost to magic resistance.
Best Mage birthsigns in Oblivion Remastered
If you’re looking for outright Magicka gain, then The Apprentice’s extra 100 points are tempting, just be wary of the 100% vulnerability to magic that comes with it. The Mage is much better if you’re going this route. It only gives 50 extra Magicka, but there’s no downside.
If you want a different build altogether, then The Atronach is a good option. It disables your Magicka regeneration entirely, but in exchange, you absorb a portion of spell damage whenever you get hit, restoring your Magicka that way. It’s very useful, but bear in mind you won’t always be facing other Mages in combat, making it useless when fighting non-magical enemies.
Best Thief birthsigns in Oblivion Remastered
Once again, follow the namesake and you’ll be pleased with what The Thief has to offer, namely a ten-point boost to Agility, Speed, and Luck. These straightforward boosts will be a big help if you plan to take the sneaky route through Oblivion, though if you want something a little more flashy, then The Shadow’s invisibility power is worth considering.
