Oblivion Remastered: How to join the Fighters Guild
By Ryan Woodrow

The Fighters Guild is the most straightforward guild in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. The guild mostly performs Mercenary work, helping out the people of Cyrodill with anything that needs a strong sword arm, something you likely already have. It’s also one of the easiest to join, as long as you know where to go, which makes it the perfect guild to join first.
We’ll break down how to join the Fighters Guild in Oblivion Remastered so you can begin their questline.
How to join the Fighters Guild
The Fighters Guild has bases in most cities, however, you can’t join at all of them. You can only join when speaking to the leaders at the following locations:
- Anvil – speak to Azzan
- Cheydinhal – speak to Burz gro-Khash
- Chorrol – speak to Vilena Donton
Of these, Chorrol is the location you’re likely to visit first, as the main quest directs you there once you leave the tutorial. However, if you do, you’ll need to go to Anvil or Cheydinhal to get your first quest, as Chorrol won’t have one for you just yet.
However, there are conditions for joining the guild. You will be rejected if:
- You have a currently active bounty
- You have an infamy score of 100 or greater
If you have 100 or more infamy, you can only join the Fighters guild if you also have 100 fame. You can check your fame and infamy scores in the character menu. Also, if you commit a crime against any member of the guild, you will activate the mission “Expelled from the Fighters Guild” and will need to earn your way back in. Careful though, do this three times and you will never be able to rejoin.
For these reasons, it’s recommended you complete the Fighters Guild as your first faction questline, especially before you join the Dark Brotherhood or join the Thieves Guild, as completing quests for both of those factions will earn you infamy points.
