Keep New Eridu’s greatest superstar safe with the best Zenless Zone Zero Evelyn build. An Attack character dealing Fire DMG, Evelyn excels at executing Chain Attacks.

Evelyn accumulates Burning Embers while dealing damage to enemies, filling her gauge. Once the gauge is at least half full, Evelyn can hold Basic Attack to execute Basic Attack: Garrote — this consumes half the gauge and generates a point of Burning Tether. Using her Ultimate also generates Burning Tether. When Evelyn has three Burning Tether points (visible right next to her gauge in the UI), holding Basic Attack consumes all Burning Tether points to execute a version of her Chain Attack.

Launching Evelyn’s full Basic Attack combo of five hits allows her to enter Binding Seal, which unlocks an alternate version of her Special Attack. Thanks to her Core Passive, Binding Seal raises her CRIT Rate. Furthermore, switching Evelyn out while Binding Seal is active enables her to cast her Special Attack while going off the field.

  • Full Name: Evelyn Chevalier
  • Role: Attack
  • Damage Type: Fire
  • Faction: Stars of Lyra
  • Rarity: S-Rank

Using Evelyn’s Ultimate for the first time in a battle makes her take off her jacket and enter the Dance of Awakened Fire state for the rest of the fight, allowing her to retain one Burning Tether point whenever she consumes them. All of her skills deal Fire DMG to enemies, concentrating on her primary target. However, most of her abilities allow her to bind several foes together and thereby expand her damage to them.

When Evelyn is on a team with a Stun or Support Agent, her Chain Attack and Ultimate DMG get boosted — the buff becomes even greater if Evelyn has 80% CRIT Rate or more.

Obtaining duplicates of Evelyn allows you to unlock her Mindscape Cinema, including further buffs. Level 1 restores Decibels for Evelyn upon entering the field and debuffs enemies when she’s in Binding Seal, allowing her attacks to partially bypass enemy DEF. Level 2 boosts her ATK and allows her to retain consumed Burning Embers periodically. Level 4 grants Evelyn a shield based on her Max HP when she uses a Chain Attack or Ultimate. As long as this shield remains active, her CRIT DMG increases. Level 6 enables Evelyn to make Follow-Up Attacks temporarily after activating a Chain Attack or Ultimate, adding Fire DMG based on her ATK that counts as Chain Attack DMG to most of her moves.

Evelyn’s signature weapon, Heartstring Nocturne, increases both her CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG in addition to buffing her when entering combat and activating a Chain Attack or Ultimate. This is stackable up to two times and allows her Chain Attack and Ultimate DMG to partially ignore the enemy’s Fire RES, thereby upgrading her damage output.

Best W-Engines for Evelyn in ZZZ:

  • Heartstring Nocturne (S-Rank)
  • The Brimstone (S-Rank)
  • Zanshin Herb Case (S-Rank)

ZZZ – Evelyn: best teams

Evelyn is a reliable Fire damage dealer, though she suffers from a lack of fellow faction members at launch – she’s the only Obol Squad member, so she must rely on other Fire characters to trigger her important teamwork buff.

  • Evelyn (Main DPS), Lighter (Sub DPS), Astra Yao (Support)
  • Bangboo: Snap

Evelyn and Astra Yao are a brilliant duo, as you might imagine from their connection in the lore. Astra provides buffs and fire support from off the field and is fantastic at enabling Evelyn to get additional Chain Attacks going. Lighter is a powerful Stun Agent to add into this mix, softening targets up for Evelyn.

Koleda or Caesar are great alternatives for Lighter, while Lucy makes for a robust option to replace Astra Yao with.

ZZZ – Evelyn: promotion materials

After obtaining Evelyn, you’ll want to level her up as quickly as possible to make use of her talents in combat. Here are the materials required to upgrade her to Level 60:

  • Basic Offense Certification Seal x4

Leveling Evelyn up is only half the game, though — you’ll want to upgrade all of her skills as well to get the most out of her performance in battle. Here are the materials required to max out her Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack — we’re giving you the total you need, so just divide everything by five to get the materials needed for a single skill:

  • Basic Burn Chip x25
  • Advanced Burn Chip x75
  • Specialized Burn Chip x250
  • Hamster Cage Pass x5

Chips can be farmed in the VR Combat Simulation with Advanced and Specialized Chips also being available through crafting. Hamster Cage Passes are a rare material that can be grabbed from time-limited events as well as the New Eridu City Fund.

Finally, you can upgrade her Core Skill six times to make Evelyn stronger, for which you need the following materials:

  • Higher Dimensional Data: Steel Malice x60
  • Scarlet Engine x9
  • Dennies x405,000

Higher Dimensional Data: Destructive Advance is available from the Expert Challenge: Hans – Energized, while Scarlet Engine must be acquired through Notorious Hunt: Corrupted Overlord – Pompey.
