A single shot is all you need to take out your targets with the best Zenless Zone Zero Trigger build. This S-Rank character combines a unique mixture of traits, being a Stun Agent dealing Electro DMG as well as being a sniper — a role usually synonymous with damage dealers.

There are two overarching elements to Trigger’s kit, one on-field and one off-field.

Holding Basic Attack makes Trigger enter Sniper Stance, during which she continuously fires forward to deal Electric DMG to any foe she hits. In this state, Trigger can automatically evade an enemy attack at set intervals, but you can also do so by adjusting her position at the right moment, triggering a Dodge Counter. Hitting enemies during Sniper Stance creates 25 Purge for Trigger, up to a maximum of 100. You can end Sniper Stance with a Finishing Move by releasing Basic Attack, after which the Quick Assist from the squad’s previous character is triggered.

  • Role: Stun
  • Damage Type: Electric
  • Faction: Obol Squad
  • Rarity: S-Rank

Trigger’s other important on-field abilities are her EX Special Attack and Ultimate, which both deal Electric DMG, trigger the previous character’s Quick Assist, and allow Trigger to activate Coordinated Support.

All three of these abilities lead into the off-field aspect of her kit, which comes in the form of Basic Attack: Harmonizing Shot. Whenever Trigger is not on the field, but has Purge, active characters’ Basic Attack, Dodge Counter, Special Attack, and Quick Assist allow Trigger to execute Harmonizing Shot, consuming some Purge to deal Electric DMG from off-field. This counts as Aftershock DMG and can be triggered every three seconds.

In the same vein, EX Special Attack, Assist Follow-Up, and Ultimate allow Trigger to use the Basic Attack: Harmonizing Shot - Tartarus, which deals additional Electric DMG.

If Trigger has Coordinated Support from her own EX Special Attack or Ultimate, she can use Harmonizing Shot without consuming any Purge and without cooldown restrictions for a bit.

When Trigger deals Aftershock DMG to enemies, the target’s Stun DMG Multiplier increases and does so even if the target is currently not stunned. Teaming Trigger up with an Attack or Electric Attribute Agent, any of her CRIT Rate above a certain threshold increases the Daze inflicted by her Aftershock DMG.

Pulling additional copies of Triggers lets you level up her Mindscape Cinema and unlock more buffs for her. Level 1 increases her Core Passive’s bonus to the Stun DMG Multiplier, reduces the cooldown of Basic Attack: Harmonizing Shot, and increases the amount of Purge gained when hitting enemies during Sniper Stance on top of increasing the maximum amount of Purge to 125. Level 2 allows Trigger to stack the Hunter’s Gaze effect, increasing the entire team’s CRIT DMG. Level 4 bolsters the power of Trigger’s off-field attacks under Coordinated Support based on her ATK and Impact. Level 6 boosts the Electric DMG dealt by her hits in Sniper Stance based on her ATK.

Zenless Zone Zero – Trigger: best W-Engines

Spectral Gaze is the best weapon on offer for Trigger. It provides the wearer with additional CRIT Rate, which makes it easier for Trigger to increase the Daze inflicted by her attacks in tandem. In addition, Aftershock DMG dealt by the wearer reduces the DEF of enemies for a window of time. If the wearer is off-field while this effect is activated – which Trigger will be – they gain a stack of Spirit Lock (up to a maximum of three), boosting their Impact.

This W-Engine maximizes Trigger’s effectiveness as a Stun Agent, but also provides valuable support to the team with its debuff.

Best W-Engines for Trigger in ZZZ:

  • Spectral Gaze (S-Rank)
  • Ice-Jade Teapot (S-Rank)
  • The Restrained (S-Rank)
  • Demara Battery Mark II (A-Rank)
  • Hellfire Gears (S-Rank)

Zenless Zone Zero – Trigger: best Drive Discs

Trigger is a Stun Agent with a strong emphasis on dealing damage, making Impact and CRIT Rate her most crucial stats — CRIT Rate more so than CRIT DMG due to her teamwork buff. Round things out with ATK to increase her damage ceiling further.

Zenless Zone Zero – Trigger: best teams

Trigger is an optimal team mate for Soldier 0 - Anby. / HoYoverse

Although Trigger needs to spend time on the field periodically to recharge her Purge or get the necessary Energy and Decibels for her other abilities, she’ll be off-field most times — and that makes her a very attractive pick for all damage dealers who hog field time.

  • Soldier 0 - Anby (Main DPS), Trigger (Sub DPS), Astra Yao (Support)
  • Bangboo: Plugboo

Soldier 0 - Anby is one those Main DPS characters that essentially never want to leave the field, so putting her on a team with two off-field Agents is going to be beneficial. Trigger will provide a good deal of fire support and stun enemies, making them more vulnerable to Soldier 0’s attacks, while Astra Yao buffs the team and provides her own follow-up attacks. Both provide chances to get Soldier 0 onto the field with Quick Assist moves, not wasting any damage.

In general, Trigger can be paired with most damage dealers, though other Stun Agents might be better equipped to serve in Anomaly teams than she is.
