Almost three years after its release, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak cracks ten million sales
By Marco Wutz

Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, the major expansion for MHR that was released in June 2022, has surpassed ten million sales ahead of its third anniversary.
The Japanese company attributed reaching this milestone to its pricing strategy in the run-up to the release of the franchise’s latest entry, Monster Hunter Wilds: “Furthermore, strategically coordinated pricing measures implemented in conjunction with the February 2025 release of Monster Hunter Wilds have proved highly effective.”
We’ve seen similar effects with other games recently: Warhorse Studios’ epic medieval RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance sold like warm bread ahead of the sequel’s release and survival city-builder Frostpunk added massive sales numbers when it got discounted ahead of FP2’s launch.
Sunbreak is regarded as one of the best Monster Hunter experiences ever by fans of the series. It added a massive amount of content to Rise, which itself came out in 2021, and received a lot of support with subsequent free updates and ports.
