3 Features We'd Like to See in Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 was announced at BlizzCon 2019 a few weeks ago promising tons of new features like a grand-scale PvE storymode and the brand-new Push game-mode for competitive play. As we await more news from Blizzard about the sequel to their massively successful take on the class-based shooter, I thought it would be fun to think of even more features that would make Overwatch 2 the perfect game.

Here are three features we'd like to see in Overwatch 2.

1. Weapon Skins

Veterans to Overwatch have already collected so many in-game cosmetics that they have been unboxing duplicates for months or are desperately buying even the worst common skins with their credits. Even with Blizzard adding new cosmetics every event, it only takes a few hours to get them all.

By adding weapon skins alongside the new visuals, you give another option for players to customize their heroes and give players more incentive to play the game to try and get some cool looking skins. Not to mention that your weapons are what you see more than your outfit in a first-person perspective, making it even more worth it.

2. Improved Ping System

With a new engine comes a chance for Blizzard to revamp an already existing systems in Overwatch.

Some options in the ping menu are straight up useless and others like the Group Up line are too vague to convey what you actually want your teammates to know.

Additional options like "I'm being attacked" would make support players live's much easier or a "Wait for me/us!" line would make it easier to tell your teammates not to jump into the next fight without the rest of your team than the standard Group Up a lot of people ignore.

3. Fix Communications Channels

Once gain, a feature that would be extremely welcome in the next edition of Overwatch is another adjustment to communications: Mandatory group chat.

Players queuing in groups are automatically put into a separate chat from their other teammates and have to opt into regular in-game communications. I just have to ask... why?

A crucial part of competitive Overwatch is good communication between your teammates to coordinate pushes and team composition. Making it optional to even just be in comms just makes it more frustrating for people that are trying their best to organize the team.

Of course, they can keep features like the block and mute options so that you aren't forced to deal with toxic teammates.
