5 Best Mid Laners in League of Legends Patch 12.3
By Yunah Elsner
The five best mid laners in League of Legends Patch 12.3 are Veigar, Pyke, Ahri, Brand and Anivia. Patch 12.3 brought a lot of new updates to the game, including a rework on Ahri and Brand.
Mid laners are typically AP or assassin champions who can do a lot of burst damage quickly. Mid lane players typically carry the summoner spell Ignite with them in order to get first blood in the game. By getting the first blood in the mid lane, this can set up a huge advantage for the team. Mid laners can roam to top or bottom lane and gank the enemy team.
Every patch, the best mid laners change as some receive nerfs or buffs and so do items. Below, we've detailed why Veigar, Pyke, Ahri, Brand and Anivia are the five best mid laners in Patch 12.3.
5 Best Mid Laners in League of Legends Patch 12.3
1. Veigar
Veigar received a buff a few patches ago and has been a popular mid laner ever since. Previously, Veigar had a hard time catching up throughout the game so Riot Games had buffed his ultimate abilities damage. Veigar can use his cage to stun enemy champions and unleash a combination of damage onto them. Veigar's cage can also help him escape from ganks and survive enemies attacks.
2. Pyke
Pyke was on our Patch 12.2 best mid laners list. Originally intended to be played as a support, Pyke has been a versatile champion in the game. He is also currently one of the most broken champions in the game and has been for a while now. With the new item Axiom Arc, the cooldown on Pyke's ultimate ability is almost nonexistent.
3. Ahri
Ahri received a rework this patch and has been a strong mid laner. Ahri is not only one of the most popular champions in the League of Legends franchise, but can do a lot of burst damage, charm her enemies and quickly kite enemy champions using her ultimate ability. However, Ahri has fallen behind the game and was rarely picked in the game. Now, is the time for players to try Ahri again as her rework has made her a strong mid laner.
4. Brand
Brand also received a rework this patch. Brand's ability to stun, burn and deal burst damage to his enemies has gotten him on the best five mid laners list. By building Liandry's Anguish and Demonic Embrace, Brand has the ability to deal a lot of damage and leave a burn on his enemies. Before the patch update, Brand was a mediocre mid laner but now has a 53% win rate.
5. Anivia
Anivia will almost always be on the list of best mid laners. Everybody who plays League of Legends knows that playing against a skilled Anivia player. Anivia can trap her enemies with her wall and unleash a crazy amount of damage. Anivia's ultimate ability also comes in handy for team fights and stealing drakes and baron.
