5 Professional Athletes Who Are Awesome at League of Legends

League of Legends has over 100 million players every month, there could be a chance that your feeding AD carry could potentially be one of your idols. 

Although there are only a handful of professional athletes that have publicly played League of Legends, there are surely more of them out there, we just have no idea. Here are five professional athletes that have shown us their abilities on the Rift.

5. Professional Poker Player, André Akkari

André Akkari is a professional poker player and member of Team PokerStar Pro based in Brazil. André is also an investor for a professional esports team called CNB esports club.

Although André is no professional in League of Legends you can see in the clip above that he and others around him enjoyed the experience of facing Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima one-on-one. 

4. Two-Time World Cup Champion, Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima

World football superstar and two-time World Cup champion, Ronaldo was the winner of the one-on-one match against André Akkari. Ronaldo has since invested in the esports team CNB esports club alongside André back in January 2017.

Since then, Ronaldo made a special appearance when SK Telecom T1 reclaimed the Mid-Season Invitational title in Brazil. It's incredible to see someone like Ronaldo show his support for the esports team while many traditional sports fans see it as nothing but a video game. 

3. NFL Player, Chris Kluwe

Chris Kluwe, former punter for the Minnesota Vikings, is known to be an avid League of Legends player. A couple years back, Chris was interviewed by Riot Games detailing the similarities League of Legends had with the NFL. Chris is a proud supporter of the esports scene and continues to spectate the professional leagues and cheer for his favorite teams.

2. NBA Legend, Rick Fox

NBA Legend Rick Fox is the founder of the League of Legends team Echo Fox. He purchased former Team Gravity's NA LCS spot and joined in spring of 2016. 

Rick Fox started learning the ropes of the game to understand the game more and experience what his players have to go through on a day to day basis. Rick Fox is one of the most likable owners in the NA LCS, he's incredibly passionate and charismatic towards his players and others in the scene. 

Rick also got interested in League of Legends to connect and spend quality time with his son.

1. NBA Player, Gordon Hayward

Gordon Hayward is the most active League of Legends player out of all of the athletes previously mentioned. Gordon Hayward used to play for the Utah Jazz but now has moved to the Boston Celtics. During his debut game in the green jersey, Hayward suffered a serious injury that took him out of commission. 

Hayward now spends his time playing a couple of games on his PC, whether it be League of Legends or Overwatch. Hayward has been a supporter of the esports scene for many years and continues to show his support. 

He was also a guest during the 2017 NA LCS Finals held at the TD Garden where he gave this insight about the match against Team SoloMid and Immortals.
