Blizzard Adds New Hero Roster Screen to Overwatch PTR

Blizzard revealed a new Overwatch hero roster screen that displays heroes in three categories: Tank, Damage, and Support on the Public Test Region.

The ​new hero roster screen should be the most helpful for new ​Overwatch players. This is because the previous hero roster screen separated heroes based on offense and defense. Doing so suggests that certain heroes are only usable for part of the game which is not true.

The updated roster screen does a much better job at leaving hero possibilities open while still categorizing them appropriately. While heroes can be played on both offense and defense, support heroes are never going to consistently out perform damage heroes when it comes to sustained damage so the new partitions make more sense.

This is a step in the right direction for ​organizing the game more cleanly, something Blizzard could also do for player icons. This new system should do a better job at clarifying the subtleties of hero selection, especially for new players.
