Resident Evil 2 Remake Easter Eggs: All the Major Easter Eggs

Resident Evil 2 remake Easter eggs are plentiful, making reference to everything from other entries in the series to anime. Some are holdovers and twists on Easter eggs from the original Resident Evil 2, while others are new to the remake. Here are the major the Easter eggs discovered so far.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Easter Eggs: "Wellcome" Sign

In the original Resident Evil 2, a sign welcoming Leon to the Raccoon City Police Department featured an extra "L," spelling "Wellcome Leon." That typo returns in the remake. Where the original sign lay on Leon's desk, players can now find a new sign without the typo. A space still denotes where the extra "L" once stood, and that "L" can be found nearby.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Easter Eggs: Rebecca Chambers Photo

The Resident Evil 2 remake's Hiding Place photos lead players to all kinds of secrets. One such secret can be found in Wesker's desk, where a roll of film sits in the back of a drawer. Developing that film reveals a photo of Rebecca Chambers, a S.T.A.R.S agent who appeared in Resident Evil 1 and starred in Resident Evil Zero, in a cheerleading outfit.

The photo is a reference to a similar one that could be found in the original Resident Evil 2 by using Wesker's desk 50 times.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Easter Eggs: Brad Vickers Poster

Brad Vickers was a member of the S.T.A.R.S. team that appeared in the first Resident Evil. He piloted the ship that saved Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, then died in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.

In the original Resident Evil 2, Vickers could appear as a special zombie if the player made it to RPD without picking up any items or weapons. In the remake, a poster can be found at the same location with his likeness and name on it.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Easter Eggs: Nemesis

Nemesis is one of the most popular enemies in the history of the series. The Tyrant variant made his first appearance in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, but the Resident Evil 2 remake appears to refer to him with a series of broken walls in the Raccoon City Police Department.

While it's possible Mr. X made the holes, it seems unlikely as he hasn't yet accessed RPD when the holes are first visible.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Easter Eggs: Mikhail Viktor Restaurant

Mikhail Viktor also appeared in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, where he sacrificed himself to save Jill Valentine. The Resident Evil 2 remake added a restaurant called Mikhail's Pierogis, a reference to Viktor's Russian heritage.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Easter Eggs: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

The original Resident Evil 2 released the same year as a Jojo's Bizarre Adventure video game also made by Capcom. As a reference to that, RE2 put Jojo's name on one of the lockers in RPD. The Resident Evil 2 remake reproduces that reference, leaving Jojo's name inscribed on the RPD locker.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Easter Eggs: Dead Rising

Dead Rising is Capcom's second most famous zombie franchise, and those games have featured several Easter eggs referring to Resident Evil. The Resident Evil 2 remake turns the tables and refers to Dead Rising.

Early on in the game, players can find a poster advertising for Frank East, a freelance photographer. The ad is a clear shout out to Frank West, the photographer protagonist of Dead Rising.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Easter Eggs: We do it!

When Resident Evil 2 producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi revealed on YouTube that he and Capcom were developing the Resident Evil 2 remake, he wore a shirt with the adorably broken English phrase "We do it!" written on it. The developers immortalized the phrase by putting it on a plaque visible in the Reception Room by the Main Hall.
