ACNH Flower Breeding Guide
From making vibrant meadows to decorating outdoor greenhouses, players in Animal Crossing: New Horizons can grow various types of flowers and use them for different purposes.
Players can grow eight types of flowers in the beginning of the game. You can obtain these flowers through discovering them on your own island, shoveling them from Mystery Island tours, or buying flower seeds at Nook's Cranny.
Here's a list of the flowers that appear during the early events of the game:
- Mums
- Pansies
- Roses
- Cosmos
- Hyacinths
- Lilies
- Tulips
- Windflowers
Players can buy flower seeds at Nook's Cranny in red, white, yellow, and orange. However, Timmy and Tommy will sell different types of flowers depending on your progress in the game. When traveling to Mystery Islands, players can also find unique colors or flowers that are not available at Nook's Cranny.
It is recommended to visit other friend's islands in order to discover new types of flowers. When planting flowers on your own island, you should water them on a daily basis in order to spawn more flowers or develop different colors.

Players can obtain different colored flowers through placing different colors of the same flower type next to each other. For example, when you water white and red lilies that are placed next to each other, a pink lily will eventually spawn next to these flowers.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons generally follows a color equation for growing new flowers. When combining two white flowers, players will end up with blue flowers.
When combining a yellow pansy and a red pansy flower, an orange pansy flower will spawn next to them. A red and red tulip flower combination will lead to black tulips. Discover more unique ways to develop different flower colors here.
Players can also grow golden roses through planting two black roses next to each other. Users must have a five-star island and a Golden Watering Can before growing golden roses. Black roses can be obtained through combining two red roses.
