They also happen to be one of the most outwardly expressive, showing anyone who visits your island some small insight into your sensibilities and setting the vibe for your pocket of the village.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Roof Colors

Players get their first chance to choose a roof color when they upgrade from a tent to a house. That takes place once they've paid off their moving fees of 5,000 miles.

From that point on, whenever players upgrade their house they'll have the option to change the color of their roof. Here are all the milestones at which players can change their roof color:

• Build a new home — Mortgage fee of 98,000 Bells
• Upgrade your home (expanding the single room) — Mortgage fee of 198,000 Bells
• Upgrade your home (add additional room) — Mortgage fee of 368,000 Bels
• Upgrade your home (add second additional room) — Mortgage fee of 548,000 Bells

Once you've reached the last upgrade on that list you'll be able to change your roof color at will by spending 5,000 Bells at the Resident Services building.

There are eight roof coors to choose from:

• Red
• Pink
• Yellow
• Green
• Light blue
• Dark blue
• Purple
• Black

Players can also change their post box style and color whenever they change their roof color.
