Apex Legends Devs Address Broken Ranked Matchmaking Complaints
Respawn Entertainment have responded to player criticism of Apex Legends' Ranked matchmaking, and smurfing.
Apex fans haven't been enjoying the game at its best so far this year. With various problems cropping up, from server issues to rampant cheaters, Respawn have certainly had their work cut out for them bring Apex up to scratch.
The latest round of complaints has been on the game's Ranked matchmaking, particularly in Europe. Players found themselves in strange match-ups, thanks to the new SBMM (Skill Based Matchmaking) that Respawn have been testing.
Some players of Bronze or Silver rank found themselves up against Apex Predators, so you can imagine how that went.
Respawn have since addressed the issues. In a tweet, the developers said, "You may have noticed some unusual pairings in Ranked Matchmaking. In our efforts to continuously improve Ranked, the team is running a test through Monday focused on smurf detection and matchmaking by true skill."
Some players were amused by Respawn's "test" and quickly flooded the replies with their own recent experiences. One user said, "Some unusual pairings. Interesting way of saying you made a mess of the matchmaking. I love going against preds while I'm in silver 4 with rookie teammates. That isn't unusual, it's just plain bad and that's putting it nicely."
Needless to say, if you've gone up against players severely above your current league, just know that a fix is likely on the way soon.
