Apex Legends Evo Shields Might Become Starting Armor in the Future

In a discussion about the "Always Be Closing Evolved" limited time mode on the Apex Legends subreddit Wednesday, Respawn developer Daniel Klein gave players hope that Evo Shields could be starting armor at some point in the future.
Apex Legends Evo Shields Might Become Starting Armor in the Future
In response to a user suggesting that Evo Shields should be starting armor, Klein said, "good idea!" Another user expressed fear that doing so would remove the complete chaos that happens when players drop together, but Klein assures "we'd find a way to maintain that." Other users suggested that dropping with an Evo Shield would be useless if you ended up in one of those games where you never seem to encounter anyone. Klein responds by saying, "we'd find a way to fix the 'I never met anyone so my EVO sucks' problem if we were to ship evo armor only."
Respawn officially announced Apex Legends Season 6: Boosted on Thursday. The new season will bring the arrival of a new Legend, Rampart, among other changes. Season 6 is also introducing a new weapon and crafting mechanic.
As for starting with Evo Shields, it looks like that idea will be shelved until a later update. For now, expect that option to only be possible in LTMs. It does seem like something that Respawn devs are having internal discussions about, so it wouldn't be a surprise if it does eventually make its way to the game.
