Apex Legends Ring Fury Escalation Takeover will add Heat Shields to the game. This new mode is coming as part of the new chaos theory event update. This new update is bringing quite a bit into the game and Ring Fury Escalation Takeover is a highlight of the event.

In this new mode, there will add a twist to the normal battle royale rules. Although there will be a normal ring that closes in just as usual, there will also be smaller pocket-sized rings that expand inside the zone. These "ring flares" deal the damage the current, normal ring dishes out. so they can become very troublesome obstacles in the late game. However, Respawn has also introduced a way to deal with these ring flares.

Heat Shields are a new item introduced specifically for the new mode. These shields will not only protect players from the damage of the ring, but it also enables them to heal and revive their teammates faster. Of course, this bonus is only activated by heat shields in a ring. However, these heat shields aren't permanent, as they more or less absorb the damage of the ring rather than deflect it. This means that in later rounds, heat shields won't last as long as they do earlier in a match.

These new heat shields won't be a part of the usual inventory but instead will be slotted into a new slot called the Survival Slot. This new slot differentiates normal loot from situational items like the heat shield, as well as mobile respawn beacons. This new extra slot in players' inventory could wind up being a difference-maker in a couple of matches.

The new Ring Fury Escalation Takeover mode arrives March 9, and will end March 23.
