Apex Legends development studio Respawn Entertainment released a teaser for the game's upcoming eighth season Friday, and it may hint at both a new map and a new character set to be released in Season 8.

The teaser, posted to the official Apex Legends Twitter account, shows a handshake between a biker and what might be an executive. It bears text that reads:

"The Syndicate and Salvo... Unified at last. Approved by the Committee of Unification Board."

After a moment, the image is torn up and begins to burn from its corners. A logo for the Salvo Motorcycle Club is then sprayed on top of it.

The Syndicate is the organization responsible for the Apex Games, and Salvo is a planet in the Outlands that, up to now, has not been a part of the Syndicate's holdings. This teaser could indicate that Salvo has joined the Syndicate, making it a playable map for Apex Legends players.

Most of what is known about Salvo is drawn from a letter discovered on Wattson's desk in a piece of promotional art Respawn released. It indicates that although Salvo leadership had initially rejected an offer to join the Syndicate, new leadership more sympathetic to the Syndicate had recently taken control. As a result, Salvo has become the seventh planet to join Syndicate Space.

From there, large sections of the letter are redacted.

"Salvo brings with it [redacted]. In the coming [redacted] Office of Public Relations will be rolling out a social [redacted] to dispel inaccuracies about [redacted] to create an appropriate [redacted] for their integration into the Syndicate, [redacted] including exciting new developments within the Apex Games," reads the letter.

"At this time do not correspond with the Legends regarding this matter. Expect further instructions [redacted] our office in the days to come.”

Although Salvo's joining the Syndicate presents Respawn with the opportunity to add a new map to the game, it appears unlikely the studio will do so having released Olympus in Season 7. The more probable explanation is that the next playable Legend will hail from Salvo.

Data miners believe the next Apex Legends character will be an explosives expert named Fuse. Respawn Entertainment has yet to tip its hand regarding the next Legend's identity.
