Are There Preferred Champions in League of Legends ARURF?
By Yunah Elsner
Are there preferred champions in League of Legends ARURF? League of Legends recently released the ARURF or All Random Ultra Rapid Fire game mode with the Lunar Revel event. URF is one of the many League of Legends game modes that can only be played for a limited time.
The Lunar Revel event began on Jan. 26 bringing new missions, skins and more to the game. The celebration of the Lunar New Year will go on until Feb. 28. Now is the time for players to play the game in order to earn tokens and exchange them for exclusive loot.
ARURF is a fast-paced game mode that takes place on the rift. Every champion has 300 ability haste and unlimited mana or energy. The objectives are still the same and follow the same concept as a normal game of Summoner's Rift. Both teams' fountains have a cannon which players can quickly get to lane using.

Since players are able to spam their abilities indefinitely, there are some champions who do scale better than others. However, this version of URF is All Random. Just like ARAM, players are given a champion at random. Players are still able to reroll and trade champions.
Even so, there are preferred champions in ARURF. AD Carry champions and mid lane champions do particularly well in URF as they are able to do a lot of damage, especially with the unlimited use of their abilities and low cooldowns. Listed below are some of the best champions to play in ARURF:
- Nami
- Kaisa
- Seraphine
- Trundle
- Kog'Maw
- Yuumi
- Teemo
- Zyra
- Ziggs
- Fizz
However, there are a few characters that, while strong in-game, are extremely difficult to scale with. For example, Kayle might seem like a broken champion in the game but isn't quite a champion until level 16. She ends up playing like a Yuumi who dies in every team fight.
ARURF won't be around forever so now is the time for players to try it out. Time playing ARURF also counts for the Lunar Revel missions and will end on Feb. 28, 2022.
