Absol originally hails from the Hoenn region and is part of Generation III. It is also known as the “Diaster” Pokemon due to its uncanny association with natural disasters. As such, people began to believe that it caused them—and so the name stuck. However, it has since been revealed that Absol acts as more of a warning than a catalyst. Its PokeDex number is #359.

This Pokémon is one of the more powerful glass cannon choices in the game. With an attack stat of 314 all on its own, Absol has the potential to be an quick, no-nonsense attacker in both PvE and PvP content. Its maximum CP can hit above 3700 at level 50, alone.

Absol is a pure dark-type, meaning players should prioritize dark-type moves for that sweet Same-Type Attack Bonus (STAB). Therefore, its best moveset contains the quick move Snarl with the charged move Dark Pulse.

Snarl is the only dark-type move in this Pokémon’s quick move pool, making it automatically at the top of the heap for moves. It has a damage listing of 12 and generates around 13 energy per second (EPS) while doing 13 damage per second (DPS).

Absol has two dark-type charged moves: Dark Pulse and Payback. While Payback does have more listed damage and does 55 DPS, it also eats up nearly 50 points of energy per cast. Meanwhile, Dark Pulse does 32 DPS at a 17 energy cost. Therefore, trainers can cast it more often, resulting in an opportunity to inflict more damage over time.
