The key component in any competitive shooter is mobility. It almost doesn't matter which weapons, which attachments, perks, or lethal throwables are used if a player is unable to quickly move throughout the match. Mobility comes in many shapes and the "bunny hop" in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a mobility component that just received a nerf in the latest patch notes on Feb. 5.

Bunny hopping isn't unique to Call of Duty games, but if mastered it can significantly improve one's positioning. Two key components are needed for the traditional bunny hop - running and jumping. The classic bunny hop is when a player runs, jumps, and jumps again with the same level of speed as the first jump. The same height might not be reached, but the idea is to continue the movement with carried momentum.

Until the latest patch to Cold War, jumping was unpenalized. A player could essentially continue to use the mechanic until it feathered out on its own due to miss-timing or lack of speed. The update adds "a small speed penalty and jump height penalty after landing from a jump."

Sliding adds another advanced addition to the bunny hop. Previously a player could run, slide, jump, and while in the air start to run again, cancel into a slide to start the process over. The momentum would carry a player fast enough to make them a hard target to hit. Treyarch will monitor the nerf's impact, but this mechanic will likely be harder to perform more than once without fully restarting the process.

The patch included additional updates to Zombies, Multiplayer, bug fixes, and double XP. Warzone also saw a patch on the same day in regards to the "stim glitch" and more.
