Call of Duty 2020 fans finally got some news this weekend as a possible hint at the next installment in the franchise surfaced.

Usually by July, fans have some sort of solid information on the next Call of Duty title, although this year's developer Treyarch has been suspiciously quiet so far. On July 15, a public listing for "The Red Door" was posted on the Xbox Live Store with the description, “There is more than one truth. If you go looking for answers, be ready to question everything and accept that nothing will ever be the same. The Red Door awaits, do you dare step through it?"

Call of Duty 2020: The Red Door?

The title surely seems to be related to the Call of Duty franchise as the game is listed as a shooter and under Activision's name. Additionally, the title requires a whopping 81.56 GB of storage to download which implies that it is either an advanced alpha or even into the beta stages. The Red Door requires a code to download which means it could be a vehicle for a "friends and family" test of the game. It appears that whenever the test goes live, players will get an extended gameplay experience of the title.

Treyarch's last release was Black Ops 4 back in 2018. The game featured Overwatch-esque ultimate abilities amid a futuristic backdrop. While there have been rumors that the next Treyarch title will be set in the past and feature a grounded movement system, nobody knows for sure. The game's artwork features a red keyhole with a maze-like illustration in it. The image could imply some sort of Cold War themed game, as it would explain the rumors of a game set in the past and the red imagery, but that's just speculation.

While we don't know much about Treyarch's plans, we can almost confirm that there will be Call of Duty in 2020. Until Treyarch decides the time is right to unveil its new Call of Duty title, we will just have to sit and wait to find out the meaning behind The Red Door.
