We've compiled a comprehensive list of all the biggest changes coming to Zombies in Call of Duty: Black Ops Season 5.

Activision has unleashed its undead hordes this season with a host of additions, improvements, and upgrades heading to Zombies in Season 5. According to a new blog post from long-time franchise developer, Treyarch Studios, players will have a variety of new content to wade through, including a new perk, support weapon, field-upgrade, and extra tweaks to certain modes.

COD: Black Ops Season 5 Zombies Changes Explained

We've broken down these changes into their respective categories, below, including the new perk, field upgrade, and mode tweaks.

For viewer convenience, we'll just go ahead and reveal that the Flamethrower is the latest addition to support weapons in Zombies. Treyarch encouraged players to "trade in some Salvage and light ‘em up."

There's also a handful of Operator Missions alongside the new weapons to unlock at launch. Specifically, these are the Cane melee weapon, C58 assault rifle, and MG 82 LMG from last season's Battle Pass.

COD: Black Ops Zombies New "Death Perception" Perk

Death Perception prioritizes player awareness and survival. It increases Salvage drop rates and damage done to armor to help players stay up and ready to fight for their mortal lives. It can be upgraded as such:

  • Base: Obscured enemies are keylined through walls.
  • Tier I: Mini-map update rate is increased.
  • Tier II: Enemies give danger indicators when behind the player.
  • Tier III: Gain 20% more looted Salvage and High-Grade Salvage.
  • Tier IV: Increase armor penetration damage by 25%.
  • Tier V: Nearby chests, resources, and item drops are keylined through walls.

Treyarch notes that this perk could be a complete game-changer—considering certain enemies aren't shy about disguising themselves to lure in unsuspecting prey. It can be picked up through the Der Wunderfizz machine, which features a new jingle when used.

Additionally, this perk will receive its own "dedicated Perk machine" alongside the studio's "tenth and final Perk-a-Cola."

COD: Black Ops Zombies New "Tesla Storm" Field Upgrade

Players who pick up the new Tesla Storm Field Upgrade will do the famous Serbian-American electrical and mechanical engineer proud. This ability makes use of electricity and lightning to stun and damage opponents. It can be upgrades as follows:

  • Base: For 10 seconds, lightning connects to other players, stunning and damaging normal enemies.
  • Tier I: Double the damage dealt to enemies stunned by Tesla Storm.
  • Tier II: Increase the duration to 15 seconds.
  • Tier III: Special enemies can be stunned and damaged by Tesla Storm.
  • Tier IV: Players generating a field gain 25% increased movement speed.
  • Tier V: Elite enemies can be stunned and damaged by Tesla Storm.

Tesla Storm creates an electrical field around the player that has the potential to affect all enemies within a certain radius. Treyarch believes it has the capability to keep players going by helping them escape the stickiest of situations while remaining relatively unscathed.

COD: Black Ops Zombies New Mode Tweaks

The following changes are coming to Outbreak mode:

  • New Collateral Region
  • Transport Objective
  • Tank vehicle
  • Grapple Gun crafting item
  • Disciple enemy
  • New Narrative Intel
  • Two new playlists

This iteration of Collateral has been specifically designed for Outbreak with the entire space bound to the Dark Aether, featuring a raging sandstorm to highlight the Algerian Desert horizon.

The new Transport Objective gives players some new content in the Ural Mountains while the Grapple Gun—think: grappling hook—and tank provide two avenues to access that content. Ever wanted to swing around the stony peaks like Spider-Man and go head-to-head with an Orda inside a massive armored vehicle? Treyarch has you covered.

Meanwhile, casual players have two new playlists to choose from—completely tailored to them. "Endless" allows them to Warp and Exfil whenever they please while "3 Regions" only allows Warp in the first two and Exfil in the third.

PlayStation players can expect to see these tweaks appear in Onslaught mode:

  • New Narrative Intel on Echelon
  • Weapon Blueprint Challenge
  • Diminishing Light limited-time mode later in the season
  • Total map availability on all platforms later this year

Dead Ops Arcade 3 players will be able to experience the new Ikari EggXit bonus map. Created and refined by the DOA 3 team members Jennifer C. and Leandra D., this area is entirely new to The Wild, featuring more platformer gameplay with "hidden rewards and deadly enemies" lying in wait.

Season 5 is set to kick off later today, Thursday, Aug. 12, at midnight ET.
