With the new season around the corner, it's time to take a look at the format for the upcoming Call of Duty League Season.

According to CoD League's official statement on their website, for the 2022 season, the Call of Duty League will feature 12 teams playing four regular season Majors on a hybrid LAN/online model. The game modes for 2022 will be Hardpoint, Search and Destroy, and Control.

Each major will span four weeks of matches. The first three weeks will have each team play five prescheduled online qualifying matches against randomly drawn teams. Following those three qualifying weeks, the top eight teams will compete in one week of bracket play at a live LAN event in front of fans, where the winner of the Major will be decided.

The first Major will be hosted by OpTic Texas, and the hosts of the others will be announced at a later date.

The 2022 Kickoff Classic presented by Zenni Gaming will take place from Jan. 21 - Jan. 23. It will feature all 12 teams battling on LAN with a live audience in attendance at Esports Stadium Arlington in Texas. Tickets for the event are coming soon, so keep an eye on the CoD League's website. The 2022 CoD League season will officially start on Feb. 4, with these first matches being played online from Feb. 4- Feb. 6.

Midseason Tournaments

Additionally, CoD League will introduce a brand new Pro-Am tournament as well as a Call of Duty: Warzone event featuring Call of Duty League pros, streamers, and other influencers. No names have been released yet, but with the wide range of options, we can expect some big names to perform at the midseason tournament.

Updates to the Postseason

Several important changes have been made to the 2022 Playoffs and Champs. Eight teams will enter the Playoffs, however, the top two seeds will no longer get byes and the bottom two seeds will no longer start in the Losers Bracket. Instead, all eight teams will start in Winners Round 1.
