Can Delcatty be Shiny in Pokemon GO?
By Jack O'Dwyer
Today, we'll answer the pressing question ahead of this week's Spotlight Hour feature: can Delcatty be shiny in Pokemon GO?
Delcatty may appear in the wild more frequently today thanks to its pre-evolved form, Skitty, being the featured Pokemon for the weekly Spotlight Hour event. This Pokemon, keeping in line with its pre-evolved form, is a pure normal-type from the Hoenn region and traditionally favored by cat lovers due to its feline-like characteristics.
Trainers who catch Skitty and/or Delcatty during their feature hour from 6 to 7 p.m., local time, will receive twice the capture candy.
Can Delcatty be Shiny in Pokemon GO?
Yes, Delcatty can be shiny in Pokemon GO.
Delcatty, like Skitty, was released in-game alongside the first wave of Hoenn releases in December 2017. Its shiny form debuted during the Hoenn Throwback challenge in May 2020.
Shiny Delcatty keeps its color palette consistent with that of its pre-evolved form, Skitty. While a typical Delcatty features short beige fur with longer lilac accents on its head, around its neck, and making up the bulk of its tail, shiny Delcatty exchanges these colors for yellow and peach.
Delcatty can be found in the wild on rare occasions, but cannot be hatched from eggs as it does not belong to any egg-hatching distance group. Trainers will likely have better luck finding this Pokemon on partly cloudy days in wooded and/or suburban areas.
Delcatty is also known as the "Prim" Pokemon—invoking in image not unlike its species-cousin, Sinnoh's Glameow. It "prefers to live an unfettered existence in which it can do as it pleases at its own pace." Similar to real-world cats, its routine of sleeping and eating can be entirely random due to its own whims. Its PokeDex number is 301.
