Can you preorder Pokémon UNITE?
After initially being revealed a year ago during a Pokémon Presents broadcast as the franchise's first strategic team battle game, the release date and beta details surrounding Pokémon UNITE has remained a hot topic as the title nears its Nintendo Switch launch next month.
Here's the latest for players anxiously awaiting the opportunity to preorder Pokémon UNITE.
Can You Preorder Pokémon UNITE?
The fact of the matter is, Pokémon UNITE will be free to play, and thus will not require players to preorder it for guaranteed day-one access.
While The Pokémon Company could reveal more details on premium packages and micro-transactions closer to the game's Nintendo Switch release date, it should come at no surprise that Pokémon UNITE is looking to get a piece of the “free-to-start" pie with MOBAs—and mobile games in general—being popular at an all-time high.
Pokémon UNITE will feature crossplay between Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, and is being developed in collaboration by The Pokémon Company and Tencent’s TiMi Studios, who are the creators of Arena of Valor and Call of Duty: Mobile.
Here is The Pokémon Company's official synopsis on what Pokémon UNITE will have in store for fans:
In this game, players face off against each other in 5-on-5 team battles. During battles, players will cooperate with teammates to catch wild Pokémon, level up and evolve their own Pokémon, and defeat opponents’ Pokémon while trying to earn more points than the opposing team within the allotted time. Pokémon UNITE introduces a new kind of Pokémon battle—one that requires teamwork and strategy. It is simple and yet full of intricacies waiting to be unpacked.
Pokémon UNITE is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch this July, and on mobile devices this September.
