Can You Still Play Warzone 1 in 2023?

It's no surprise that Warzone 2 has fully taken over player attentions, but can you still play the original Warzone in 2023?

The original Warzone first released back in 2020, and after a multitude of updates, changes and more, it received a sequel in 2022 tied to the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. But Warzone 2 has had a mixed reception, with players not quite feeling the same pull as they did in Warzone 1.

Maybe its the maps not living up to the likes of Verdansk, Rebirth Island, or Fortune's Keep, though the first of the three was later replaced with the polarizing Caldera.

So if you're just not vibing with Warzone 2 and are looking to go back to what you know, is it still possible to play Warzone 1 in 2023?

Is Warzone 1 Still Available in 2023?

Yes, Warzone 1 is still available to play, albeit under a different name. Rebranded as Warzone Caldera, the original is still playable but it's not quite the same as it once was.

For starters, the only map available to play is Caldera. And if you didn't like the map during its peak, you probably won't care for it now. There are no map playlists anymore, so the likes of Rebirth Island and Fortune's Keep won't be up for selection.

It's also worth noting that the player count is likely to be significantly less. With all of the attention directed at Warzone 2, there's no battle pass, shop content or additional updates available in Warzone Caldera. Naturally, that's going to put some players off.

But, if you're just looking to get a few games in the old Caldera map, sprinkled with a bit a nostalgia, then Warzone Caldera will scratch that itch.
