Can you trade in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?
Now that the first open-world action RPG for the series has finally arrived, plenty of players are wondering whether or not the new iteration supports one of the longtime staple features for the series — trading. Here's a breakdown of whether or not you can trade in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Can You Trade in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?
Yes, players can trade in Pokémon Legends: Arceus thanks to its system seen similarly in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.
Before being able to trade in Arceus, however, you will need to progress through the story a bit.
After completing Mission No. 4 and reaching Jubilife Village, Mission 5 ‘A Request from Mai’ will be available as well as the option to use the Trading Post in the northwest section of the village.
At this point, players can use the Trading Post to trade either with "Someone nearby" or "Someone far away," meaning Arceus features the same trade functionality allowing players to swap Pokemon with their friends or strangers, both locally or online.
Of course, if you want to trade online, you’ll need an Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
To trade online, simply follow the proper prompts to ultimately create a Link Code that will be used by the other player that you want to trade with. Link Codes now give you eight digits to work with, which should hopefully cut down on the number of times unwanted players get in accidentally.
Once two players connect together online, they can trade Pokémon as many times as they want. Just be sure to check their in-game name before any transactions just in case.
Additionally, items can also be traded by using the points earned from finding items other trainers dropped after they’ve been knocked out.
