CDL Atlanta was an action packed weekend full of upsets and MVP worthy moments. Here are five takeaways from the CDL Atlanta Home Series.
CDL Atlanta: 5 Takeaways From the Atlanta Home Series
1. Atlanta Faze win CDL Atlanta
After a slow start in the semi-finals on Sunday, Faze fought their way back to beat Minnesota and secure their spot in the finals. They then went on to dominate Florida Mutineers for the championship title with a quick 3-0 sweep.
2. Cellium Tournament MVP
Often underrated, McArthur "Cellium" Jovel proved a lot of haters wrong this weekend. After dropping 40 kills against London in their final Hardpoint and carrying his team to Search and Destroy victories, this MVP is on another level. One of the best flex players in Modern Warfare, Cellium is finally getting the recognition he deserves.
3. Florida Reverse Sweep Against Chicago
Twins Preston "Prestinni" and Alec "Arcitys" Sanderson went head to head for the first time since their split from eUnited. Arcitys and Chicago took an early 2-0 map lead in semis but Prestinni and Florida weren't having it. Florida managed this season's biggest upset and reverse swept arguably the best team in the league to join Atlanta in the finals.
4. OpTic Gaming in Shambles
OpTic Gaming won one map the entire weekend. This roster is full of former all-stars who are capable of taking over at any time but on LAN, they struggle to get anything going. The teamwork isn't there and must go back to the drawing board to find any sort of success moving forward.
5. Chicago Huntsmen Fall Short
This is a top ranked team that got complacent. After barely scraping out a win against Toronto Ultra, Chicago Huntsmen started to show some signs of life in the latter half of CDL Atlanta. Unfortunately, Chicago couldn't hold it together and was reverse swept by Florida.
