Cliff Counters Pokemon GO April 2023
Cliff, alongside the two other Team GO Rocket bosses in Pokémon GO, has come back in April with a slightly modified team that can give players trouble if they are not adequately prepared to deal with him.
Cliff is one of three Team Rocket leaders in Pokémon Go, along with Sierra and Arlo. To encounter Cliff, you need to find and defeat six of his grunts in the game. After that, you will receive a Rocket Radar, which will help you locate Cliff and battle him.
Below is a mini guide on Cliff's April team and some potential Pokémon you can bring to the fight.
Cliff Counters Pokemon GO April 2023
For the first phase, Cliff will always send out a Larvitar, but with the subsequent phases, the Pokémon he will send out will vary. So, players should be prepared for anything when they are planning their team for the fight.
First Pokémon: Shadow Larvitar
Shadow Larvitar is a dual-type Rock and Ground Pokemon. As a result, it is weak to several types of moves that exploit these weaknesses; Water, Grass and Fighting, namely. Players should try to use these types to take this opening Pokémon down.
- Empoleon - Metal Claw and Hydro Cannon
- Swampert - Mud Shot and Hydro Cannon
- Shiftry - Razor Leaf and Leaf Blade
Second Pokémon: Shadow Kingdra, Sceptile or Skarmory
Kingdra is a Dragon- and Water-type, so it can best be handled by using Fairy- and Dragon-type moves to get it off the field if thats the Pokémon he sends out. Sceptile is a Grass-type, so using Fire-type moves can defeat it pretty quickly. Skarmory can be tricky, as it is a Steel- and Flying-type Pokémon, but similarly to Sceptile, using Fire-type moves is probably your best bet.
- Kingdra: Haxorus - Dragon Tail and Dragon Claw
- Sceptile: Darmanitan - Fire Fang and Overheat
- Skarmory: Chandelure - Fire Spin and Overheat
Third Pokémon: Shadow Gyarados, Swampert or Tyranitar
Gyarados is a Water- and Flying- type, making it incredibly weak to Electric-type moves, so using an Electric-type will surely decimate this Pokémon. Swampert is a Water- and Ground-type, so Grass-type moves will defeat it swiftly, being that both types are weak to Grass-type moves. Finally, Tyranitar is a Rock- and Dark-type Pokémon, so thankfully, with a few Fighting-type attacks, you can win the battle.
- Gyarados: Electivire - Thunder Shock and Wild Charge
- Swampert: Roserade - Razor Leaf and Grass Knot
- Tyranitar: Conkeldurr - Counter and Dynamic Punch
Defeating Cliff will reward you with items such as Rare Candy, Stardust and a chance to catch one of his Pokémon. Keep in mind that you can only battle him once per day, so make sure to choose your Pokémon wisely and bring healing items if needed.
