Cyberpunk 2077 Katana Build: Best Katana Build
By Jack O'Dwyer
When Cyberpunk 2077 developers CD Projekt Red said custom they really meant it—katanas and all.
Whether players have secret dreams of being a cyberpunk ninja, prefer melee to motorized, or simply didn't get a chance to play Ghost of Tsushima, several have been inspired to study the blade in Cyberpunk 2077. Below, we've put together an easy build for players looking to swing deadly steel in Night City.
Cyberpunk 2077 Katana Build
First, let's focus on what makes this build a katana build: the katana. Players can get access to the best katana in the game pretty early on if they're brave enough. We've outlined how to get the Satori Katana before, so hopefully, V already has it. Otherwise, really any blade will do until they have it.
Katana builds commonly focus on critical chance and damage. However, there is much more to a good pseudo-samurai strategy than swinging and hoping to crit. We've designed this build to be light and adaptable to suit any player's individual style. Think of this as the building blocks to shift around as necessary—high DPS to end fights quickly and enough survivability to keep V's head above water.
The primary attribute to focus on here is Reflexes. Since V won't be worried about aiming a gun or tracking distant targets, they'll need to be nimble and swift to slide up close and personal with their enemies. Body and Cool are also important to keep in mind in that order, respectively. Cool affects evasion while Body impacts your stamina and strength.
Reflexes holds the key to this build: blade perks. Some notable perks to max out include:
- Sting Like A Bee
- Blessed Blade
- Crimson Dance (+ Bloodlust)
- Deathbolt
- Dragon Strike
- Judge, Jury, and Executioner
The best Athletics and Annihilations perks to focus on are:
- Steel and Chrome
- Epimorphosis
- Dead Center
- Dog of War
- Cardio Cure
- Wolverine
Players may also want to pick up Cold Blood due to its critical bonus when eliminating enemies en masse. The most important perks here are "Critical Condition," "Predator," and "Coolagulant."
As we mentioned before, the katana builds rely on critical, meaning the gear V wears should follow suit. This, of course, includes their Cyberware. It's really up to the player what stats they'd like to put the edge on with V's implants. Still, we've taken the liberty to point a few out:
- Adrenaline Booster
- Militech Berserk MK. 5
- Biomonitor
- Dense Marrow
Cyberpunk 2077 is currently running Hotfix 1.11 on Google Stadia, PC, and consoles at the time of writing.
