Danny in The Last of Us was a character in the original 2013 title that closed out the lifecycle of the Playstation 3. All information regarding the character could be found from notes discovered throughout the game, and particularly in the sewers of Pittsburgh where the underground safehouse community thrived during the events of the Cordyceps Brain Infection Outbreak.

While Danny was not physically encountered during the events of the first game, references were made to him through notes and children’s drawings. Assumed to have been overrun quite some time before Joel and Ellie made there way to the abandoned settlement, Danny was a survivor who made his way to the sewers looking for safety, where he met Ish, a former fisherman and founder of the safehouse alongside individuals Susan, Kyle and their children.

The underground colony which Danny joined included a school for children, makeshift beds, shower stalls, and even rain catchers for fresh water. Upon meeting Ish, Danny worked alongside the fisherman to protect the settlement, salvaging armor, weapons and supplies from nearby areas - all while keeping the safehouse clicker & runner free; for a time.

As Joel discovered from a series of notes around the area, the safehouse door was one day inexplicably left open, and it did not take long for the infected to bombard there way inside. Ish managed to escape with Susan and a small group of children, where they then made there way to the suburbs to flee the impending massacre. Kyle was separated from the rest of the group - trapped in a room with another small group of children, yet their fate was not so kind. With no way out, it was implied that he shot the kids to save them from a much worse fate, before turning the gun on himself.

While there is no mention of Danny’s fate, players no doubt have looked to learn what becomes of he enigmatic character with the vivid backstory as The Last of Us Part II became available.
