Did Fortnite Remove the Kinetic Blade?
The Kinetic Blade has disappeared from Fortnite, and fans wants to know if the mobility item is coming back.
Unlike previous seasons, Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 has limited mobility options. The Shockwave Hammer was vaulted at the start of the new update, leaving players with only one mobility item: the Kinetic Blade.
The Kinetic Blade allows players to jump across the map to effectively rotate or push enemy teams. Although ODM Gear joined later in the season as part of the Fortnite x Attack on Titan collaboration, the Kinetic Blade was always the favored mobility option.
Here's a breakdown of why Epic Games removed the Kinetic Blade and its future status in the Battle Royale.
Did Fortnite Remove the Kinetic Blade?
On May 22, Epic Games announced they "temporarily" removed the Kinetic Blade from the Battle Royale. A viral glitch allowed players to use the blade to kill anyone from any range by disconnecting and then reconnecting their WiFi.
Despite the original announcement, it seems the Kinetic Blade's removal is anything but temporary. FortniteStatus issued an update days later, tweeting, "We are vaulting the Kinetic Blade for all Battle Royale playlists for the remainder of Chapter 4 Season 2."
Fortnite's competitive meta now relies on the new Spider-Verse Web Shooters, a mobility item added to the game earlier this week in Fortnite's latest collabartion with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
