Does Battlefield 2042 have cross-progression? The game's cross-platform play system is a little more involved than the systems for other games, but players will still be able to play across console lines. Having consistent progression across those platforms would make sense. Here's how crossplay and cross-progression work in Battlefield 2042.

Does Battlefield 2042 Have Cross-Progression?

Because only PC and current generation consoles can support the massive 128-player lobbies in Battlefield 2042, crossplay for the game is split along generational lines. PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will be able to play together, and Xbox One and PS4 players will be able to play together, but the two groups won't mix. Individual players can also disable crossplay entirely.

The game will also feature cross-progression. Anything a player unlocks or accrues in Battlefield 2042 on one platform will carry over to any other platform on which they decide to play. That includes real-money purchases such as DLC or in-game cosmetics. EA calls this system "cross-commerce," though it's kind of a superfluous — and potentially misleading — term.

To enable cross-progression, you'll simply need to log into whatever platform you choose with the same EA account.

Battlefield 2042 launches Friday.
