Elden Ring Leaks: Are There Any?
By Jack O'Dwyer
Elden Ring leaks are a bit of a rarity these days—which is surprising given the massive amounts we have for other titles this month. It's left players wondering if there are any bits of information about this game at all.
Elden Ring has been somewhat silent since its reveal at E3 in 2019. We haven't heard from or seen much of it aside from a trailer and some inconsequential announcements. This isn't uncommon as many games tend to go silent in development to return with marketing at launch. It appears George R. R. Martin intends to make these fans wait for updates, as well.
Fortunately, fans tend to put their impatience to good use.
Elden Ring Leaks: Are There Any?
A new major leak was making the rounds on 4Chan last week. According to the leak, the game will feature eight distinct kingdoms the size of which completely dwarfs that of Dark Souls. Each kingdom will have a major boss and several minor bosses along the way. Differing terrain and secret passageways will also be a part of the world.
Players will be able to save their game via "prayer shrines"—similar to the inspiration title's bonfire mechanic. Each class in the game is tied to one of the eight kingdoms and will determine where the player spawns at the start. This suggests the story progression is not linear and can be enjoyed according to player desires. However, there are five endings the story can have based on player choice.
Additionally, there will be a PvP mechanic as well as various types of mounts, styles of combat, specialized areas, and more.
DBLTAP cannot confirm the veracity of this information at this time.
From the looks of it, this game will be something of a mash-up between The Legend of Zelda and The Elder Scrolls with elements of Dark Souls thrown in.
Unfortunately, aside from a brief gameplay leak last March, there is no other news on this front. According to trusted and notorious From Software leaker, Omnipotent, on ResetEra, Elden Ring is set to be the studio's largest open world title yet. They plan to merge the Dark Souls style with an open setting to give players a real sense of adventure.
The game will also feature "dynamic day/night cycles, lighting, weather, ...wildlife, enemies out in the open world that change their positioning, both big and small," according to Omnipotent. It will also have, "things that make the world feel like it lives and breathes and doesn't just exist as your playground."
The closest estimate to a release date we have is June 2020, according to a New Years card on the From Software website. However, this likely may have changed with the current global situation.
