Looking to get the Bloody Finger in Elden Ring? Here's a walkthrough guide for Varré's quest.

White-Mask Varré is one of the first NPCs you have the chance to meet in Elden Ring. As you emerge from the Stranded Graveyard and take your first steps out into the Lands Between, Varré will be waiting just beyond the first Site of Grace. Of course, like most NPCs, you don't have to talk to him, making his entire questline easy to miss.

But, should you carry it out, you'll earn the important Bloody Finger multiplayer item. Here's everything you need to know in order to complete Varré's questline.

First, once you emerge from the Stranded Graveyard, head over to Varré and exhaust his dialogue. He'll mock you for being maidenless, implying that the only end you'll meet is death. He'll then give you a slight rundown of the Grace's guidance, instructing you to make your way to Stormveil Castle.

You'll be heading there anyway as part of the main progression, so it's worth speaking to Varré before you go.

After you've made your way through Stormveil and defeated Godrick the Grafted, head back to Varré and exhaust his dialogue there again. The game will have expected you to have visted the Roundtable Hold as well, which you'll need to do in order to advance Varré's quest.

Once you've completed the above, you'll next find Varré outside of the Rose Church in the Liurnia of the Lakes region. This is on its own island, to the southwest of Liurnia. Speaking to him here will award players with the Festering Bloody Finger - a consumable that allows for the invasion of other players' worlds.

Varré will then instruct you to invade players using the Finger three times. Upon doing so, he'll ask you to join his order with the Bloody Lord. Accepting his offer grants you the Lord of Blood's Favor item, which he then tells you to "Soak the cloth with a maiden's blood." Yikes.

So, now you'll need to find yourself a maiden. Well, luckily, you'll have two options and neither of them will require you actually having to kill a poor maiden.

You'll only need to soak the Favor item in the blood of one maiden, and, as far as we can tell, there are at least two places you can go.

The first is the Church of Inhibition in the Liurnia of the Lakes Region, which can be found north from the Frenzied Flame Village. Sitting near the Site of Grace is the corpse of a dead Finger Maiden, which you can interact with to soak the Favor.

The second can be found at the Chapel of Anticipation, though only provided that you've unlocked the second belfry at The Four Belfries. There will be a waygate that will take you here, but beware of the Grafted Scion that killed you during the beginning of the game. Look for the corpse of another Finger Maiden to interact with.

After you've soaked the Favor, return to Varré at the Rose Church. He will present you with the Bloody Finger - a reusable item allowing you to invade other players. Speaking to him again also grants the Pureblood Knight's Medal that leads to Mohgwyn's palace where you can fight Mohg, Lord of Blood.

Completing all of the above will finish Varré's questline, but players can choose to fight him as well.

How to Fight White-Mask Varré in Elden Ring

Players looking to fight Varré should head to the Mausoleum Dynasty Midpoint Site of Grace. Here, players can find a red invasion sign allowing them to take him on. If you do decide to kill him, it's important to only do so after finishing his quest. Varré cannot be revived at the Church of Vows, rendering his questline impossible to complete.
