Epic Games Adds New 'Armored Wall' Tile to Fortnite in Hotfix v18.00
By Jack O'Dwyer
Armored Walls have dropped in Fortnite to help with the war effort during Chapter 2 Season 8.
According to a letter from the desk of J.B. Chimpanski, these walls were invented to directly help combat "The Cubes." Players have already done a considerable amount of work uncovering Turret Stations, but now, Chimpanski has a new resource up his sleeve
"War means it’s time to reinforce," he wrote, "which is why I’ve bolted together the Armored Wall."
How to Get Armored Walls in Fortnite
Armored Walls cannot be crafted directly as wood or brick walls can. They can only be found in Supply Drops or scattered across the map on the ground—placed there by Chimpanski for players to use to protect themselves and their allies from attack. Each one has its own high amount of HP, but can also be attached to crafted walls, directly, for a sharp durability boost.
"I'm placing these fortified fixtures in Supply Drops and scattering ‘em on the ground," He wrote.
How to Use Armored Walls in Fortnite
The walls are categorized as Traps, Chimpanski explains, due to the fact it's "a time sink to try to break one." Therefore, players will find them listed under the Traps section of their building menu. To place an armored wall, players only need to approach an existing wall with one of the armored plates selected and apply it to the standing structure.
"No matter how you go about it, it’ll be a LOT tougher for the enemy to reach you if you surround yourself with ‘em," Chimpanski wrote.
According to player reports, an Armored Wall will have 2500 HP and, of course, buff the other walls around it.
The Armored Wall Trap
Some players have really taken a shine to the new building tile in the form of a brand new trap for otherwise inexperienced, casual, or underpowered opponents.
Keeping with the theme of Chapter 2 Season 8: Cubed, these players have discovered a way to quickly construct a series of armored walls around their opponent in the form of a cube with walls on all dies. Due to the walls' intense durability stat, breaking out of this trap is difficult to say the least.
Additionally, since the walls strengthen the durability of adjacent building tiles, these are an absolute pain to deal with.
