Epic Games Store is Coming to iOS and Android Devices
Epic Games has become a platform for several PC and Mac gamers. The company launched in 2018 as a competitor to Steam and has evolved as a digital storefront and developer service since then.
Epic Games continues to grow this year. This afternoon, the official Epic Games Store Twitter/X account announced its expansion to Android and iOS.
Epic Games is Coming to iOS and Android Devices
As of writing, Epic Games has not announced a solid release date for the mobile launch. We know that the company is targeting the end of 2024.
In the State of Unreal Livestream, EGS General Manager Steve Allison stated the Epic Games Store will be “the first game-focused multiplatform store” on Android, iOS, PC, and Mac when it arrives on mobile devices this year. Players can anchor the Epic Games Store by logging into their accounts on different devices.
That’s not the only exciting news Allison announced. The General Manager also shared that “a selection of third-party partners” have shown interest in joining Epic Games when it launches on iOS and Android. Allison didn’t reveal more details.
Last but not least, Epic Games is releasing more self-publishing tools to “make it easy for mobile developers to release their apps.”
For those who don’t know, Epic Games had major issues with Apple and Google. The game developer had legal disputes with both companies concerning the restrictions and revenue cuts of the App Store and Google Play Store.
