Giovanni Pokemon GO April 2023: How to Beat
Giovanni is back for the month of April in Pokémon GO with a new legendary Pokémon by his side, and here is a guide on how to handle his new team.
Giovanni is a character in the mobile game Pokémon Go, who serves as the leader of Team Go Rocket, a group of villains who seek to take over the game's world by using Shadow Pokémon. Giovanni first appeared in the game in November 2019 as part of a special research quest-line called "Looming in the Shadows."
Since his introduction, Giovanni has returned to Pokemon Go with various Shadow Pokemon available for players to rescue. In addition to battling Giovanni, players can also battle other members of Team Go Rocket and their leaders, including Cliff, Sierra, and Arlo.
Giovanni Pokemon GO April 2023: How to Beat
Giovanni will always start out with a Persian, a reference to the Persian he is canonically known to have in both the anime and main-series games.
First Pokémon: Shadow Persian
Shadow Persian is a Normal-type Pokémon, which means that it is weak to Fighting-type moves. However, as a Shadow Pokémon, it will have increased attack power and reduced defense, making it a formidable opponent.
- Lucario (Fighting- and Steel-type) - Counter and Aura Sphere
- Machamp (Fighting-type) - Counter and Dynamic Punch
- Conkeldurr (Fighting-type) - Counter and Dynamic Punch
Second Pokémon: Shadow Cloyster, Garchomp or Nidoking
Shadow Cloyster is a dual Water/Ice-type Pokemon that can be a difficult opponent in battle. Shadow Garchomp is a dual Dragon/Ground-type Pokemon that has incredible attack power and speed. Shadow Nidoking is a dual Poison/Ground-type Pokemon that can be a tough opponent to face. Its Poison typing also gives it resistance to common types like Grass and Fighting. Here is a recommended Pokémon that addresses each Pokémon's weakness:
- Cloyster: Lucario (Fighting- and Steel-type) - Counter and Aura Sphere
- Garchomp: Togekiss (Fairy- and Flying-type) - Charm and Dazzling Gleam
- Nidoking: Excadrill (Steel- and Ground-type) - Mud Shot and Earthquake
Third Pokémon: Shadow Regice
Shadow Regice is a pure Ice-type Pokemon with high defense and HP stats, making it Giovanni's strongest Pokémon. It has access to moves like Blizzard and Focus Blast, which can deal heavy damage to its opponents. To counter Shadow Regice, it's recommended to use Pokemon with powerful Fighting-type, Rock-type, or Fire-type moves, as they are super-effective against Ice-type Pokemon. Here are some Pokémon that can hopefully help defeat this monster in battle.
- Lucario (Fighting and Steel-type) - Counter and Aura Sphere
- Aggron (Rock- and Ground-type) - Meteor Beam and Iron Tail
- Charizard (Fire- and Flying-type) - Blast Burn and Fire Spin
