Hisuan Forms in Pokemon: Full List of Confirmed Additions

Pokemon Presents introduced four new region-specific Pokemon forms for Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

The game takes place in the Hisui region, the "new to you" ancient version of Sinnoh. Due to the time jump, Hisui features a wide variety of Pokemon previously unseen in Sinnoh—alongside a handful of region-exclusive evolutions and variants native only to that time period. We've broken down these species below.

Hisuan Forms in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

1. Hisuian Growlithe

If you don't know who this guy is yet, you haven't spent any time on social media in the past 24 hours. Hisuian Growlithe was the breakout star for the Pokemon Presents broadcast. Appreciation for this dual fire and rock-type completely enveloped Twitter following the presentation. Also called the "Scout" Pokemon, It is best known for its thick, fluffy fur to protect against cold mountainous weather and its territorial behavior. It has a pointed horn at the top of its head, but only uses it when necessary as it is extremely fragile.

2. Wyrdeer

Wyrdeer is a greatly respected near-mythical Pokemon in the Hisui region. It is the long-lost evolved form of Stantler and is prized for its thick pelt on its neck, tail, and lower legs. Humans used to collect the shed fur to fashion into protection from the cold. Also known as the "Big Horn" Pokemon, Wyrdeer is a dual normal and psychic-type that can discharge energy from the black orbs resting in its horns that can be powerful enough to warp space and time. It uses this ability to find safe paths for its herd and shepherds young Stantler.

Its name comes partly from the anglo-saxon concept, "wyrd," referring to the interconnectivity of fate. Wyrd is often depicted as a "web" of hatch marks for this reason.

Humans can use Wyrdeer to travel long distances on "deer"-back across the region.

3. Hisuian Braviary

Also known as the "Battle Cry" Pokemon, Hisuian Braviary sheds its 'Murica coloring to sport pastel purple and deep charcoal feathers—also taking a much different shape along its wings and tail. Its white mane is also larger, fluffier, and appears less coarse. Its crown is made of feathers that look like psychic flames. In fact, Hisuian Braviary uses its powerful psychic energy to stun prey before ripping it apart with its sharp talons. It can also use this energy to enter a trance that boosts its physical abilities.

Interestingly enough, Hisuian Braviary are noted to be migratory, as they fly toward the southern part of the region in the winter. However, they are solitary raptors, preferring to live alone rather than in flocks. Hisuian Braviary is larger than its modern-day variant--likely due to the harsh climate and long distances it needs to travel.

Humans can use Hisuian Braviary to fly and glide over the region.

4. Basculegion

Basculegion is known as the "Big Fish" Pokemon—and we'll give you three guesses why. This massive fish resembles a loach or catfish and sports jagged magenta whiskers, eyebrows, and scale accents that blend into a billowy tail. It can only evolve when "possessed" by the souls of other Basculin from its school that didn't survive the annual migration upstream—hence the "legion" part of its name. It uses the power from these souls to attack and swim onward, relentlessly.

Humans can use Basculegion to explore the rivers, lakes, and waterfalls in the Hisui region without fear of danger. Perhaps the most thrilling image of this Pokemon was its fearless cascade over the side and down a massive waterfall.
