Horizon Forbidden West: How to Glide
Wondering how to glide in Horizon Forbidden West? Here's what you need to know.
Horizon Forbidden West introduces a number of new elements to the iconic PlayStation series, not least of all is the ability to glide. It becomes a great way to get around and reach distant platforms. It's easy to forget that this tool is part of Aloy's new arsenal, though thankfully the game always reminds you just where it could be important to use it.
But, gliding isn't an ability that Aloy can use straight out of the gate. In fact, you'll need to make your way through a certain part of the game before you unlock it. Here's what you need to know.
Horizon Forbidden West: How to Glide
In order to glide in Horizon Forbidden West, you'll need to have reached a certain part of the story. First, you'll need to have reached Barren Light and begun the mission "The Embassy." The Shieldwing Glider is automatically given to Aloy during this mission, making it an unmissable ability.
Once obtained, you'll soon find that there are more suitable places to use it than others. Jump from a high place, like a ledge or mountaintop, then hold down the Square button. Doing so will whip out the glider and allow you to coast along until you reach the ground.
If you want to stop gliding prematurely, simply press the Circle button to cancel the ability.
As you head through the Forbidden West, you'll find that the glider is integral to navigating the various terrains. Don't be shy and give it a try whenever you can.
