In order to partake in the merriment with your Buddy Pokémon, players will first need to make sure that they have a trainer level of 2 or higher, which basically means you have to have done the tutorial first.
Once you have met that rather basic requirement, touch the trainer icon on your device's screen. This will open up your profile page. Then you will want to select the bottom left icon which will take you to the Buddy section. The icon will look like a small cylinder with two faces inside of it. Once there you can select any one of the Pokémon you have caught to join you on your travels. You'll know that your buddy has been paired with you if you see them standing next to you on your profile screen.

After you have selected your buddy you will be given the option to feed them berries and/or poffins. You will want to do this because when the Pokémon has a full stomach gauge it will appear on your screen alongside your trainer.
