How to Beat Thundurus in Pokémon GO

Struggling on how to beat Thundurus in Pokémon Go is understandable given that it is a powerful legendary Pokémon. Thundurus is an Electric- and Flying-Type Pokémon that is part of the Forces of Nature trio along with Tornadus and Landorus. The three Pokémon are featured in Pokémon GO as part of the Season of Legends event.

Thundurus will make an appearance in Pokémon GO on Tuesday, March 16. Thundurus can be found in five-star raids in its Incarnate Forme and Therian Forme. Incarnate Forme Thundurus also has a Shiny version that can be encountered in Raids.

How to Beat Thundurus in Pokémon GO

Being an Electric-Type, avoid using all Flying- and Water-Type Pokémon against Thundurus. The one exception is Swampert, who is immune to Electric attacks but does not offer much offensively against Thundurus. Here is Thundurus' move set:

Fast Moves

• Thunder Shock
• Astonish

Charged Moves

• Thunder
• Thunder Punch
• Crunch
• Brick Break

Thundurus knows both a Ghost-Type move in Astonish and a Dark-Type move in Crunch, so avoid using Psychic- and Ghost-Type Pokemon as well. Brick Break is a Fighting-Type move and is super effective against Normal-, Rock-, Ice-, Dark-, and Steel-Types.

Thundurus is a powerful foe, but it does have weaknesses. Being an Electric- and Flying-Type, it is weak to Rock- and Ice-Type attacks. Be aware that while Electric-type Pokémon are typically weak to Ground-Type moves, being a Flying-Type makes Thundurus immune to these attacks.

Dual Rock- and Ground-Type Pokémon like Golem and Rhyperior offer strong matchups for Thundurus. These Pokémon will be able to weaken Thundurus with Rock-Type moves while fending off its Electric attacks. Standard Rock-Type Pokémon will be able to deal plenty of damage to Thundurus but can be stifled by Brick Break.

Ice-Type Pokémon can also damage Thundurus but can also be easily weakened by Brick Break. Mamoswine is perhaps the best Ice-Type option given that it is also a Ground-Type. Here are some examples of Pokémon to use against Thundurus:

• Rhyperior

The absolute best Pokémon to use is Terrakion, a Rock- and Fighting-Type legendary Pokémon. On top of being able to match Thundurus' legendary status, it is the only Rock-Type Pokémon that is not weak to Brick Break. Fighting-Type Pokémon are normally weak to Flying-Types, but Thundurus does not know any Flying-Type moves.

Thundurus will be available in Pokémon GO on March 16 and can be captured after being defeated. Thundurus is a legendary Pokémon and does not have any other evolutions.
