How to Counter Deadlock's Ultimate in Valorant

Ahead of Deadlock's debut, fans want to know how to counter the Sentinel's ultimate in Valorant.

Valorant Episode 7 Act 1 drops tomorrow with the release of Agent 23, Deadlock. The Sentinel comes with unique abilities perfect for detecting and trapping enemy players. Deadlock can use her nanowires to hold opponents in place, monitor their footsteps, and slow their movement.

The big news surrounding Deadlock, though, is her ultimate. Annihilation (X) cocoons the first enemy it reaches and pulls the trapped player along a nanowire path. If the opponent reaches the end of the path, they will automatically die.

So, is there a way to counter the broken ultimate?

The best way to counter Deadlock's Ultimate in Valorant is to have your teammates shoot out the cocoon. If the trapped player is freed before reaching the end of the path, they will not die. Unfortunately, if you are in a 1v1 and get cocooned, then you will have no way to escape and the round will inevitably end in defeat.

To avoid Annihilation, players can send out a Yoru clone to be captured in the cocoon to keep their team safe. Not many players opt to run Yoru these days, but we might see the Agent rise in popularity to counter Deadlock.

The easiest way to avoid the trap, though, is to dodge the ultimate. ValorantBoni found that by simply moving a few steps, players can avoid being taken in the cocoon.
