How to Evolve Electabuzz into Electivire in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
By Jack O'Dwyer
We've come up with a comprehensive guide to how trainers can evolve their Electabuzz into an Electivire in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Generation I's single-form electric-type, Electabuzz, was among the few lucky Pokemon to finally receive an evolution with the release of Generation V in the Sinnoh region. Its new evolved form, Electivire, has become a fan favorite alongside Magmortar—so much so that Niantic Labs themed a Pokemon GO event around the two.
Here's how to evolve Electabuzz into Electivire in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Trainers can evolve their Electabuzz into Electivire by trading it while the Pokemon is holding an Electirizer.
The Electirizer resembles a power brick adapter for charging one's mobile devices--complete with a double-prong plug on one side and three USB slots on another. Unsurprisingly, this item is yellow with gray accents. Trainers can pick it up from a wild Elekid in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond. Shining Pearl players will simply have to trade.
Elekid are commonly seen in the Grand Underground in electric hideaways such as Dazzling Cave.
Electivire is also known as the "Thunderbolt" Pokemon. According to its PokeDex description, "Heedless of enemy attacks, it closes in, shoves its tails onto the foe, then looses high voltage." This voltage can be as high as 20,000 units. Its PokeDex number is #466.
For context, it takes just over 11,000 volts to consistently kill an adult human being. This electric-yeti just got a lot less cuddly.
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are available now for the Nintendo Switch.
